what one to keep ummm spent quite a fue hours in total processing and playing about with these images and tips on processing for this baby would be spot on what you guys think

Both are great images! May be my preference is a little bit for the second one, but I don't why Understand you, it is hard to choose.

Iwould go second also reason more whispy in my opinion in the nebulristy which I like. don't even know if they are words or not but think you understand what I mean

I'm a sucker for darker skies so am going to say the first one.

thanks guys like doc i think i like the first one a bit more as i lighted up the neb a bit more and darkend the background and the other i tryed to get more natural

They are both nice images, but I think I prefer the 1st version, the contrast between the 'black' sky and the neb. is very nice IMO.

Nice shot Toby, the first is my preffered one. Go a little easier on the black point though, if you make the sky too dark, you also tend to clip out some of the details.

When using the levels tool, leave the white point alone, and bring the black point up gradually so that it comes just behind the spike where the real data kicks in, dont be tempted to take it further.

I would go with the second as a full size image, the nebulosity is nice and whispy. But the first makes a great avatar.....loads of impact.
