Hi!

I live near Aberdeen, am very active in Aberdeen Astronomical Society, and am interested in astrophotography.

I'll be going along to their next event (sorry a plug so soon...) 12th August in Newtonhill to observe the Perseid Meteor Shower.

Here's a moon shot I just re-processed a few hours ago, what do you think?

Welcome to the SGL Forum Trull, and thanks for the superb lunar image too.

Total Eclipse tomorrow for some lucky places. Sadly not the UK though.

Don't worry about the plug, someone else could benefit from the info.

Enjoy your stay, and we look forward to your posts.

Hi Trull,

A very warm welcome to SGL. Thats a fine lunar shot, lots of detail and technically well processed. I hope you enjoy your stay at SGL, I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Welcome to SGL, Torc! :D Great to have you on board :)

See you at a meeting in the near future.

Nice moon pic by the way. Had any good NLC sightings recently? All I've seen are the dark grey ones unfortunately.

Hello fellow SGL'ers

Thank you for the warm welcome and kind words - much appreciated.

I think that some people may wonder how/with what kit I was using and how long it all took to get that shot, here's the gear:

DSCN0692.JPG

Time budget for this shot:

2 hours preparation (getting kit in car+working out target)

1/4 hour drive to Dark Sky Site courtesy Lembas Organics

2 hours tinker time getting gear set up, aligned, software fettled.

3 hours capturing images (Brass Monkeys)

1/4 hour drive home

12 hours fiddling in Nebulosity trying to get the best from the subs

Total: 19.5 hours for one piddly JPG... yep I must be mad!

Trull

PS: Yes that is frost on the comfy seat, it was -11oC...
