This seems like a good deal on a IMX533 Colour camera

Different model/sensor, hard to draw conclusions about the IMX533 version from this

At any rate, it may be better buying from the official site direct? I think that they are going to get a special sale next Friday

I found a youtube review of this particular camera after a quick search, which gives good feedback on the performance (although it was a quick search - not sure if any of the more established astrotubers have a review):

Is this shipped from within the UK? Do you know what extra costs there would be (VAT/Duty)?

Thanks

Ady

Better ask them directly.

Besides some shipping, I didn't pay VAT etc (they shipped from Germany, if I remember correctly), as I am located in Greece.

I don't know what happens with UK customers.

They do ship direct to the UK, and they have told me that have a special shipping method that does not incur any more costs for us at our end, so not sure what that means, maybe they declare a much lower price on the package…..🤔

But surely you are better buying from Amazon UK, the price is better and next day free  delivery with prime…why would you want to have it shipped from abroad….?

The seller on Amazon and Ebay is likely to be Retvis. I got my 40mm SV165 finderscope that way, it came shipped from the UK so I think they have a UK warehouse they send from. As promised there were no extras to pay and no understated customs/vat declarations to worry about.

Would seem a good deal for those not locked into the ZWO system.

Correct it is Retvis direct, £719 plus a 7% reduction voucher, so £670 at checkout….👍🏻

I would not like to lose the 2 port USB2 hub, they are perfect to focuser and filter wheel and are unused when imaging and frees up two ports on the MiniPC/Pegasus/ASIAIR.

The German shop has the mono version as well, I wonder when that one comes to Amazon UK. Found several accounts reporting heavy banding issues, I'd like to buy it from a seller where it's easy to return the camera.

Looked at Altair, they do sell 533mono cameras, but that one has a long flange distance, I am afraid 17.5mm may be problematic in some systems.

The banding issue has supposed to have been sorted with a software update….but not 100% sure…I saw the same reports recently….

Still, reluctant to order from overseas if the effective price difference vs local is just 10-20 percentish. A single warranty procedure if available at all(!) would negate that.

Well, I took the plunge and bought one...

I wanted to like it, I really did but before it had seen first light I had problems with darks. Both banding (which I've seen reported in other reviews) and amp glow... 🤯

The reason for buying it from Amazon was the easy return policy, so I didn't pursue any sort of lengthy remedy with Svbony and just returned it to Amazon.

I had the same issue with my SV605CC, which I just returned to Amazon and opted for the SV405CC. I had a 5mm spot glow in the corner of my frames and the banding was horrendous.
