Lunar X and V tonight..

Caught them earlier (posted elsewhere). Actually a first time for me and more obvious than expected. Despite the half moon, seeing and transparency are great here tonight, but covid has knackered me and I could feel the cold on the lungs so sadly came in.

Quite nice here, some cloud around but some decent clear patches with reasonable seeing. Popped the 76Q out and had good views of the X and V, plus Hyginus Rille.

@Stu it was good between cloudy coming and going.

As you say Hyginus Rille was quite something tonight, the angle of illumination must be at play to make it look so good.

Me too with all three aforementioned, first time noting them also. First Irish Light for my LZOS 105.

First time for Lunar X and V for me earlier tonight. Vixen 80M. Both were much brighter and clearer than I expected - pictures don't really do them justice. Well, not any pictures I can take!

Yes, saw them earlier Alan.  I've seen them both many times, but this time the X seemed to rather resemble a spider to me 😄.

Well done Mike, I know how difficult it is to hold a phone's camera to an eyepiece - I'm absolutely useless as it.  That's why I mostly use prime focus for my snaps, or very occasionally the Celestron xyz adapter.

The lunar X etc are old hat. What about something more challenging staring out from the crater Chladni - The Lunar SKULL?  😲😱 You may need a good imagination! 😆

Mike, I remember the time you pointed out Laurel and Hardy to me on the Moon, but I can't for the life of me remember where they were or what the lunation had to be to see them.

Stan Laurel is definitely up there. I've seen him smiling back at me many times. There's also a smiling emoji crater. I'll try snapping a pic of them next time I see them as I'm sure it will amuse, if not thrill fellow SGLers. Or may be not!
