First DSO image I am really quite happy with

Cygnus Wall shot with my Esprit and an Optolong L Extreme dual band filter.

6h 5m of integration time. Stacked and processed in SiriL (I LOVE SiriL!!)

35 sec subs, unguided

i should add, this is light frames only. I don’t shoot calibration frames any more.

This is great! Really sharp and lots of detail. One to print and hang on the wall? A bit of walking noise is evident, dithering would fix that.

thanks. Actually my son asked for this image so he can print it and display it in his house. I guess it's only fair, given I put up lots of his macaroni pictures in my house many years ago 🤣

Dithering would require guiding AFAIK. I can't be bothered with that faff

I didn't read it like that, I thought the total integration time was 6h 05m. Sub length not mentioned.

Lovely. Gives me hope yet!  The image stands being zoomed in too. Nice and sharp. I think the wall stands on its own as an image. I hope you don’t mind my cropping it as demonstration.

I like that (and the cropped version as well).  Stars add to the image without overpowering.

this was shot from my back garden in Oxford city. The L extreme filter cuts out all light pollution.

my subs are 35sec. That is the longest I can go without guiding and still get round stars.

Sorry, no. I meant it’s the first one I’m really pleased with. Poor English on my part.

it’s actually my fourth DSO. I started out with astrophotography in august.

It is very beautiful. You have really got the details and edges sharp.

6 hours integration time @ 35sec subs would be over 600 light frames @ 50MB each!!?!?

I was just thinking that - the CPU must've had a hell of a job stacking them all!!

Yep. 628 subs. I think they are 55MB each. But I don’t tend to keep them all once I’ve stacked them

Not really. With SiriL it takes about 15 min. It’s a wonderful program

That's a terrific image Stuart and just shows what can be done with the evolving meta these days: short subs, no guiding, no calibration frames, urban skies...
