Usha Gap at Muker Yorkshire dales

Recommended Posts

Hi guys an gals, i have just returned from a camping holiday at this wonderful place Usha Gap campsite, i have had a small star party here before but i still want to push this site for astro, BTW i have no link and gain nothing from this, just highlighting a stunning place for astro, the site owner works with campaign for dark skies, and since last star party they have dealt with lights on the barn that may of caused a slight issue it is well worth a visit only drawback they still have not managed to get EHU put in    https://ushagap.co.uk/

Thanks for the heads up Nightfisher, looks amazing.

It’s really useful when people post recommendations for observing locations. I often think it would be a popular sub forum for people to post dark site locations they use, if they are comfortable to do so, Astro friendly campsites, places to avoid or for people looking for a suitable location to ask the question. I asked for advice on a couple of locations in Derbyshire recently but got no response. It may have been different with a dedicated sub forum……Maybe the mods might consider it???

The site is book marked.  My camping trips this year are near St. Asaph, in North Wales, Ravenstonedale in the Yorkshire Dales and near Craven Arms, Shropshire. I may try this one if I get a free weekend. Thanks.

Would you recommend specific campsites at these locations?

https://www.pitchup.com/campsites/Wales/North-Wales/Denbighshire/St_Asaph/corn-bwch/?type=4&#csdetail That's my St Asaph site. I can't personally recommend it because I've not previously visited, but the reviews are great and it's just the type of site I like i.e. small, no touring vans, clean facilities and a pub within walking distance..

Low Greenside Farm near Kirkby Stephen is a fantastic campsite with huge pitches but this year especially it's booked all summer. In fact they have recently removed the site off www.pitchup.com probably for that reason. We have visited before and hope to make a yearly visit. This year in September.

The October site in the Shropshire Hills is a departure for us, due to 'er indoors wanting electricity. Still, the location looks nice enough...  Wayside
