Did anyone (not) watch this? I must admit... for the SECOND time. lol

IMO a wonderful program, visiting observatory sites, and providing
genuine insight into the diverse characters of "everyday" scientists. 😛

Pathos re. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallace_L._W._Sargent   RIP!
I remember him from TV Doc: "The Violent Universe" (Nigel Calder)
https://www.amazon.com/Violent-Universe-Nigel-Calder/dp/0563084421
The book is "not very good"? But the cool picture of WS as younger
man in dark  "shades" made science seem COOL (to me!) as well... 😎

Yes, watched it for about the third time on iPlayer, only the other night, and yes, the pathos of "Wal" staying behind at his observatory while the others went on, and the caption at the end announcing his passing.

I've not seen it before, so thank you for posting the link, Chris.  What a genuinely lovely and inspiring piece of film.  People who have achieved so much, yet so self-effacing and at peace with both themselves and the world.  And so alive, regardless of being well into their seventies.

One thing does confuse me though.  The film is dated 2015, yet Wikipedia says Wallace Sargent died in 2012.

Perhaps it took a few years before the whole film came together?

Caught up with it on iPlayer last night.

A fabulous programme about some amazing people.

I'll admit to a bit of a tear when they spoke about Wal staying at the observatory and why and then seeing the end of programme update.
