Getting Venus clouds on the cheap ...and not so cheap 9th Jan

Hi All

Here is a Mono shot of Venus Taken this evening (9 Jan) at

60 fps. Atmospheric details visible with just a £5 filter and without IR pass or even a UV Filters.

I am quiet pleased with this shot.

The colour shot is a combination of the above with aditional data from infra Red pass and

Ultra Violate filters.

If I had a hat, I would take it off to you Ed. That's as much detail as I've seen barring pro. obs. work.

The filters worked some magic for you. So there is something to be gleaned from this reluctant lady.

Cracking good images. The dark cloud feature in the south was visible in the eyepiece this evening with a 80mm f/15 refractor at 160x. Seeing estimated at Pickering 9 this evening from my location.

Your image also confirms the difference in size of the Cusp caps.

Sorry Just use a W47 and an IR Block.

For some reson the clouds are more promiant on this elongation

in the visual and visible light.

I've given it a couple of tries so far, but the seeing has been truly awful and, as a result, the images have been less than detailed. I suspect that this is because I'm having to shoot low over the roofs (and central heating boiler flues) of neighbouring houses.

I'm still trying to work out the best way to process the very distorted captures I do have. Because of the very poor seeing, the align and stacking process seems to be smoothing out detail rather than enhance it. My best detail to date has been achieved by producing a drawing from a live webcam (with #47 filter + UV/IR cut filter) feed to my computer monitor.

I will perserve.
