Hi everyone I am new here, I live in Perth Western Australia (bottle class 5) and have just brought my new set up. There hasn’t been anyone in the area I can talk to about astrophotography so tried to do it all myself online and I fear I may have incorrectly purchased some things. (I tried to get things one at a time for budget purposes)
I have this set up
heq5, evostar ed80, .85reducer & corrector, evoguide 50ed, zwo 120mm mini for guiding and just my canon 200d mkii for the imaging.
The telescope, I think I may have brought something that’s not great for imaging and that’s all I’ve wanted to do.
can you please provide a better telescope alternative that would be suitable for all my other gear without having to buy like a new mount etc. I’m thinking just a slightly better scope not too heavy, opinions would be much appreciated 💖💖💖 xx
Celestron Focal Reducer - #94175 - Celestron say it's not compatible with Edge optics but I have found that not to be the caseBy StarGazingSiouxsie
I bought a Celestron focal reducer / corrector lens part #94175 for my non Edge CPC1100. Celestron say - in bold type no less - that this reducer is not compatible with Edge HD optics. The cost of the dedicated reducer for the Edge optics ( #94242 ) is ~ $200 more than the non Edge version
Out of curiousity, and to make sure what Celestron say was correct, I tried the non Edge focal reducer part number #94175 on my 8" Edge telescope - and it works just fine. The field of view is expanded as it should be and the clarity to the edge of the view is as clear as when not using the reducer. IE vignetting is minimal / non existent
Has anyone else found this to be true with their Edge and non Edge telescopes? This is significant; the price difference is about $200 between the two reducers and, in my case, the non Edge reducer gives me altitude clearance on the bottom of my Evolution mount whereas using a dedicated Edge reducer ( #94242) would not.
So if you're in a similar to me, try the non Edge reducer first before spending an extra $200.
Hi all I am using a skywatcher 80ed and nikon d7200 for imaging, I was looking at the Sky-Watcher .85x Reducer/Flattener for the 80ed, I was wondering if this was the best option for my setup for shooting deepsky objects and if anyone has used this field flattener and had any feedback
I recently purchased a sky-watcher focuser for my Celestron C8 (1997) sct together with a focal reducer. The focuser threads on the sct and so does the focal reducer. But how do I use both of them together. What I've found so far is, that one must first attach the focuser to the OTA and then the focal reducer to the focuser . But I can't see how I can attach the focal reducer to the focuser. What kind of adapter would I need?
