Anyone seen the Hubble 30th. Birthday Image of the Large Magellanic Cloud?

Absolutely a mind buster. The description accompanying the Image is also quite revealing.

No more upgrade or repair missions for the Hubble, so the James Webb needs to be a success, otherwise, they must strive to keep Hubble alive. This Telescope has far exceeded what was expected of it. A scientific Wonder is not quite enough of an accolade for the Hubble.

Ron.

Good shout Ron, a lot of links available from a google search. Chose this one as it's animated with descripton.

Not to everyone's taste but still informative.

Watching this now. Ive just had to pause it so that my brain can take in what I have just heard...

The tallest pillar in the pillars of creation is 30 trillion kilometres tall, in other words 1,000 times the diameter of the entire Solar System.

Jaw dropping. My ASMR is off the charts.

These programmes really demonstrate how much the astronauts, scientists and engineers et al put their heart and soul into these endeavours. It's quite humbling to watch. I can see why they become emotional.

The National Geographic 90 minute documentary about Mars was good to. Stunning hi res imagery.
