May 26, 2017: 60 pane H-alpha mosiac

Recommended Posts

Today, just 60 panes did the trick. Shot with the usual kit (APM 80mm F/6 stopped down to 75mm with Beloptik Tri-Band ERF, Baader TZ-4 Tele-Centric lens 4x, Solar Spectrum 0.3 Å, and ASI 178MM). I took 2000 frames per SER file, to accommodate for the rather variable seeing. I took 64 videos, but had to discard 4 redundant ones which didn't come out all that sharp. The rest came out nicely, however. The string of low proms along the eastern limb spotted yesterday has turned into a sequence of ghostly filaments, and more proms are visible in the same area. There is also a bright plage area on the northern end of this sequence of filaments. Maybe more lurks around the corner.
