The Solar Chromosphere (Ca-K) - 24th June

I had to get the lappy out to get good focus in whiet light this morning so it seemed only logical to shoot some Ca-K too Sun is pretty quiet in Ca-K too but there is some activity on the north eastern limb and there was a reasonable size prominence in the south west.

A couple of different processes of the prominence. The first done in ImPPG and then GIMP, the last done entirely in GIMP. I'm not entirely happy with either of them but they serve as a record.

I'm trying hard to convince myself that I do not need a new camera in order to get better prominence images

Very quiet indeed. Isn't that prom south-west, or is it a mirror image?

Nice images David, had a go at proms in HA earlier through some gaps when seeing looked good it seems to have gone off a bit now.

@Ewan Not sure, lots to consider, have a wish list - high frame rate, 16 bit and as big an array as I can afford!
