And get the ISO down to the least sensitive - 100 on my camera.  You will soon get the hang of it.  Look here: http://www.solen.info/solar/  to get an up to date view of what you should be seeing (scroll down to find the white light image).  Hopefully there will be a few spots around for you to be able to nail the art of focussing.

Thanks for the first image.  You got lots of good advice above, especially regarding the overexposure.

I'll throw in that you might consider a crop when you are finished.  It will give your image a "finished" look.
