Nikon DLSR Linux capture programmes?

Hi All, I have a guest who'd like to find a capture and control programme to run his Nikon for AP in Linux. Any suggestions?

Have you tried running what you'd use for windows with WINE? Doesn't work with everything but it's worth a shot if not tried already https://www.linux.com/learn/tutorials/833811-how-to-install-and-use-wine-to-run-windows-applications-on-linux

I believe DSLRDashboard works on Linux but I've never used it, not even on Windows.

I'm also interested in this, but never put in the hours on this yet. A google search reveals:

I did try gphoto a long time back and it worked for me at that time, with a Canon camera.

I think gphoto2 will be the the thing to look at, more specifically if their camera is supported. 

http://gphoto.sourceforge.net/proj/libgphoto2/support.php

It can control things like shutter speed, ISO, aperture, etc. Depending on your camera.

I'm currently working on using a raspberry pi with a battery, to control the camera. That way I can set the camera up and press a button on my phone and leave it to take all the images I want. Useful for time lapse, etc.
