I'm not a scientist by training (I studied law and history and I work as freelance editor of academic law and history titles), so I often struggle with the heavier scientific details involved in this hobby...

I do have a scientific background - even one that has some relevance to some areas of astronomy - but the simple truth is I get a lot more pleasure from just enjoying the breathtaking views to be had than from any technical insight I might have. Which is just as well, really, because when you do study the sciences all that happens is you start to realise how much more there is that you don't know.

So really, I wouldn't let a lack of scientific nous hold you back. Just relax and enjoy it!

Words of wisdom there. I like to know what I'm looking at and why it is what it is, but the breathtaking spectacle is the real deal.
