I appreciate the comments! In this photo what appears to be a southern polar cap is actually frost CO ², this kind of phenomenon progresses and disappears very quickly on Mars.

Yes some me and some friends had Damian Peach over a few weekends ago and he was discussing the "ice" that forms in the Hellas planatia region-you've captured it really well.
