Hello there, I'm very ( I do mean very) new to this game. After a short period of mark1 eyeball viewing have treated myself to a new telescope (Skywatcher Explorer 200 PDS with EQ-5 mount). Am just wondering which are the best weather sites for predicting cloud cover as having owned this kit for just over three weeks have only really managed one excellent viewing session?

Do you have an Android tablet? I use Accuweather app which allows you to have five locations to show the weather in almost real time (it lags by about 10 minutes), see images below. The first image shows the location boxes on the main screen and image two shows the weather map at full screen size. You can also replay it, which is handy as it shows the real time weather changes, and so gives you a good estimate of when the cloud cover will shift.

PS, my son tells me it can be used on an i-pad as well!

I use '7timer astro forecast.' always find that pretty good! it gives a forecast for transparency and seeing and obviously cloud cover etc so quite a lot of info!

Hi and welcome to the forum. I also use Sat24 and believe it to be fairly reliable but the best weather update that you can get at the moment is the one looking out from your bedroom window!

Clear skies and enjoy the forum

James
