Tbh I'm not a fan of big events so it's no biggy,plus the light pollution there is horrendous so any actual stargazing is pointless

That's the one yes Nick. Workmen have gone... Was there a few weeks ago with Kieran and all the big lights have gone.

Was clear as a bell 15 mins ago and looking promising, but just checked outside and some clouds have rolled in. I suppose there is still a chance they'll roll back out again, as forecast says patchy cloud...

It's just the same down here as up there,bad in the cities with some decent spots if you travel an hour.better available southern horizons but for real dark skies you have to travel further than up north.

Just had another look out, clouds R patchy but there are visible stars out there... Will hopefully stay the same so still plan on heading up about 8ish.

Had an hour with soupy at winscarr and managed to get 3 messiers M35,36,38 between the clouds with the bins.

Nice to be out shame the clouds closed in and the rain came down!

Sorry you had clouds up there guys. By contrast, fantastic night here in rural Bedfordshire. Didn't see huge variety of things as had the in-laws out with me in their back garden and so had to stick to the exciting, less subtle stuff, but they were truly wowed by Jupiter, M31, M81 & 82, M43, M13, M92, double cluster, a few doubles. Didn't manage Lovejoy - will try for that tomorrow morning if still as clear as it was tonight. Milky Way as clear as anything :-) Look forward to getting out with you guys again sometime soon.

Don't want to go into reasons on here but I've decided I won't be renewing my membership in the new year and won't be attending any future events.I wish the society all the best in the future and I'm sure I will still see people out observing in the future
