Just a small reminder for Wednesday night.

Meeting starts at 7.30 with a short talk on Nebulas by yours truly followed by a short session on what is viewable in the night sky in December and Jan, then an EP cleaning masterclass by Nick... Bring any EP's you want sprucing up.

After this we will be doing a short team quiz with some small prizes up for grabs. Then weather permitting we will make our way to Parker road for an observing session till about 11.30. If the weather is bad it might have to be a rendezvous at the old mill! ;-)

Remember if you are available and can bring your scope Wakefield Express are hoping to come down to get a group photo at approx. 6 o'clock. If not available hope to see you all at 7.30

Seasons greetings to everyone from the WADAS committee,

We are looking forward to seeing you all this evening for our first Christmas meeting as a society, as we've got a really good agenda tonight - starting off with a photo opportunity with the Wakefield Express.
So I'm starting off with a plea for assistance - If you could spare a few minutes at 6pm tonight, please can you go to Horbury Academy and meet at the main reception. Sammy has worked very hard to get someone from the Wakefield Express to write a piece on the society and it would be great if we could get a few members to go along and show their faces (and possibly bring their telescope / binoculars) that would be fantastic!

On to the meeting proper at 7.30pm
We'll be doing a few things this evening - a guide to the winter evening sky, a lens cleaning session (so bring along your dirty eps and binoculars!), talk about the Christmas tree nebula and something about the 3 wise men :-) and possibly a quiz with a few prizes.
If the weather is good (hahahahahahaha), we'll go for an observing session at parker road afterwards, if not then we invite everyone to The Old Mill pub round the corner for a pint.

Look forward to seeing you all there,
Nick

Meeting went very well last night. Thanks Nick for your presentations and EP cleaning advice straight from FLO themselves. Thanks also to Kieran for the fantastic photos you have done, sorry we didn't have time to show your video, maybe next time.

Quiz was fun sorry for making the questions too hard, I'll be a little less harsh next time ;-)

Well done the the four @ the back for getting 31 of the 88 constellations in 5 mins. No mean feat!

really enjoyed last night - great meeting and glad everyone had a good time.

plus it was good we had so many scopes and people for the wakey express photo shoot. Sammy, if you could let us all know if / when they are running the article that would be great!

Nick did you get your clutch sorted?

yeah, cost a few quid - Audis are like that...but full throttle launches of the rocket ship have now resumed normal service

have a merry christmas if I dont see you before hand!

Nick

Hello everyone

WADAS is now a 'partner' of the BBC which means we can get events advertised on their 'things to do' pages. It also means we can link our 7th January observing event with the BBC Stargazing LIVE project and hopefully get some free resources sent through if we weren't too late in registering. See link below...

Cheers,

Sam

Paul - I'll send you an e-mail in a bit. We've had a message from the BBC admin about how to apply for the resource pack.

Kieran - I resized a small image so it's a bit blocky. If you want a better version on there just send it through.

Cheers,

Sam
