Hi everyone! This is the start of a new hobby for me that I've wanted to pursue ever since my parents gave me a book about the solar system for my seventh birthday. I was watching an episode of The Universe and decided now was as good a time as any and splurged on a telescope after doing a bit of googling (I think some of the posts on here actually helped me decide). In the next couple of days I should be receiving my Celestron Nexstar 127 SLT and I can't wait to get out under the stars and putting it through its paces.

A little in general about me: I've done some travelling. I was lucky enough to be in the Czech Republic in 1999 during a solar eclipse (one of the cooler moments in my life). I enjoy shooting, archery, video games, reading - both fiction (Alastair Reynolds is a favorite) and nonfiction (especially astronomy and medical science) - and computer stuff. Eventually I want to get into game programming but I have to work toward that. Really, I'm just a huge nerd.

Hi maniakmedic and welcome to SGL

I will never forget Wednesday 11th August 1999. I observed it from Krapets, Bulgaria (Крапес, България).

Definately one of many astronomical highlights in my life too!
