Hello there...

Just thought that I'd say hello and introduce myself.

I am a making a return to astronomy after a few years away, playing with computers and whatnot.

I am starting out on a project with a friend to make an imaging system on the cheap - the dream is to create something controllable by remote,

but let's just see where we get to in reality...

Currently, all I have is a cheap pair of binoculars and quite a dark sky at night.

Welcome to SGL

A few SGL members are into remote imaging. I think there's a Yahoo group for automated observatory systems too, but I'm afraid I can't recall what it's called at the moment.

"Imaging" and "cheap" aren't often words you find in the same sentence though, unless they're connected by a negative :)

Yes James, perhaps 'cheap' is not quite the right word - more something home grown and slowly built would be a better description... Certainly keen to do as much of the electronics as I can without resorting to just buying things. Thanks for the pointers - I'll check those out.
