Sam
This is NGC 55, an irregular galaxy about 7 million light years away in Sculptor. It's 34 X 300sec exposures from a canon 1000D, 250px [not a 300px as i incorrectly originally posted] on an EQ6. Processed in DSS ad PixInsight. It seems to have come out ok. I was a bit dubious of how this would turn out as the first few subs didn't have much.
Mark72
Well done, Sam!We can rarely see them imaged in this constellation. I reckon there should be lot more there.Mark

Sam
Cheers guys. There's another galaxy near to Sculptor and this one which I wouldn't mind having a look at, but i'll have to wait until after the moon.
Earl
Very impressed how do you guide your 300p as its a huge beastie
Sam
Hi Earl, whoops it's been so long since I've used the scope I forgot its a 250px! Yes a 300 would be rather huge and probably too much for my setup.

Sam
Yes I use a coma corrector, unfortunately it doesn't help with poor guiding.
swag72
Lovely galaxy image, now if you could just add a star colour layer, that would make it utterly beautiful.
ollypenrice
Excellent delicate image. More proof that DSLRs thrive on fast f ratios, as well. Lovely light processing without the 'Pixinsight look' which sometimes asserts itself on the subject.Olly
