Hello all! Nice to be here:)

I'm not new to astronomy but am new to 'scopes. Currently have the loan of a 8" dobo with syn scan and a little celestron 4" refractor.

Have my beady on a Vixen A80MF Refractor - been looking at planets alot recently and I think I want to explore more.

TBH finding the dobbo is a bit of a dog. Big and clunky, difficult to align.

Anyhoo! That's me.

Hi and welcome to SGL. Interesting to note your findings about the Dob, handling aside you should get far deeper views than with the 4" refractor. Still, if you are mainly interrested in planetary observing, then a smaller refractor will serve you well.

Thanks for the greetings! :D

Yeah agree Catweazel. I have had some lovely views with the dobbo but its cumbersome (I'm only 5'4") and with the eyepiece so close to the ground, just awkward. .

Scopes on loan so I'm looking to take ownership of a 9 1/4" Celestron reflector which hubbie can play around with (and I can look at when I want to) and a little 4" for me :clouds1:

This came about from recently observing Saturn and just the joy of simply picking up a scope and observing. Not faffing.

Looking forward to picking up more hints and tips!
