Save your money and do a search for Seben in the forum. I think most of the opions of Seben telescopes are unprintable.

Go to the scrapyard and look for a circular piece of aluminium or tin, bring it home and stick it on a brush wedged into the ground, there you have it, seben big boss telescope. On a more serious note, it would probably out-perform the seben.

Those seem to be about £230-240. For £270 you can get an 8" dobsonian from FLO - a very well regarded scope:

I think a warning about avoiding Seben 'scopes should be a sticky to hopefully stop more newbies falling into that trap.

They wouldn't win if they tried to sue as the lack of quality when put alongside any decent telescope and mount in the price range is easy to see.

When I was looking into them a while back I heard a few stories of mirrors falling out of the tube. Now that would making setting it up difficult lol

I once had a Seben reflector. Like new in the original box. It came as part of a package of scopes I bought. It's share in the bundle cost was too high at £35 but I couldn't split the package. I ended up giving it away.

Sadly all too many people see these on ebay and think they are a good buy. When they get disappointing views their interest in astronomy is bound to falter.

I just wish those people could come here first to get sound advice about choosing a scope.
