Welcome Adam, Whitby is one of my favorite holiday destinations, especially when the missus says wecangoto Magpies :-) Put your feet up, pour yourself a drink and look at some of the amazing images on the forum.

Hi Adam. I know Whitby well. I have some distant relatives there. As a youngster I spent many happy hours out on the moors observing the night sky and counting meteors. Enjoy this site. It is friendly and contains a wealth of knowledge.

I'm loving the moors, great place to view the night sky, wide views and no light pollution. Thanks for the welcome, I'm starting with 8x40 Bresser bins and loving the views, planning on a first scope after christmas, so I'm looking forward to that

Welcome to the forum.

I was born and bred in Whitby - look up the Whitby & District Astronomical Society (WDAS). An old mate of mine runs it and they'll surely make you feel welcome. They usually have an open evening each Sunday at the observatory at Whitby Community College (or whatever it's called these days).

Hello and welcome Adam.

IMHO, Whitby is the best place on the face of the earth!

I lived there for a couple of years in the early 90's, on Abbey Terrace, and have many friends in the area....the Black Horse was my local at the time :-)
