David Smith
Nice image. Just been out for a look visually but seeing is terrible here - could just about make out the polar cap!David

Kokatha man
That 2nd image is very good Freddy..!Nice effort though with your shot:icon_salut:.....atm with such a small disk I think we need really decent seeing to grab anything reasonably well-detailed. Freddie
Thanks for all your comments.King, the graphic is from Carte Du Ciel. This is a star map but also shows these details of planets etc. It's free to download. Worth having a look.
wainscottbl
Wonderful image. I love seeing the red planets. Jupiter and Saturn (I think that was in the sky last year), are/were fun to see. To a beginning stargazer there is nothing like saying, "Look there's Mars!" But it must be so nice to see it through a telescope, rather than with the naked eye. Wonderful pic. Freddie
Thanks for your comments Wainscottbl. Have a look at the images posted by Frewi808 (Freddy) and Arbacia (Paticio) though and I'm sure you will agree that they now set the gold standard for Mars images.
