Dam clouds time it perfect

Is it me or do the clouds roll in with darkness. The skies were lovely and blue picking up my lad from school and now it's horrible and orange

I was packing up on site under a good clear sky looking forwards to coming home and getting the scope out. Walked out the back door to the usual orange evening glow of the clouds .

Had a great night Sunday though so I can't be too miffed.

I put my scope outside under crystal clear skies not more than 10 minutes ago, literally. Now i can't see a single star.

It's a strange phenomenon that clear days are followed by cloudy nights.

Still waiting for (proper) first light on my dob, spent half hour on sunday lining up the finder scope before the clouds rolled in and half hour this evening on Jupiter getting in some nudging practice. Was planning on a bit of M31 action tonight as well...

LOL I have the same problem. I get so used to putting my feet up when we have weeks of cloud that when it finally clears I can't get motivated to set up in the thought that clouds are hiding over the horizon.

tell me about it i have just travelled 250 miles from loxwood back to yorkshire i was looking at jupiter while heading up M1, i get home to full cloud!!

I've noticed the same thing about the skies: clear during the day, but total cloud cover by 9pm. I wonder if there's a proper explanation for this phenomena... other than the clouds hate me!

I had this last week. Got everything out, nicely aligned, laptop and camera fired up and wham!, as if by magic, wall to wall clouds. And they don't half get a move on when they've spotted a pile of astro kit on the lawn.

Here in Denmark we have a clear night for the first time in a couple of weeks. I have everything outside imaging at the moment.

Does anyone know any good nebula for non modded dslr's? I have 45 minutes on the witches broom so far and have turned to scope at another object since the neb didnt seem to give me anything on my subs.

Same here. Drive home with clear skies and Jupiter as bright as a lighthouse all the way. Get home, put the scope outside to cool down, grab something to eat and 45mins later it's wall to wall clouds - arrgh!

Oh well, back to the tea and biscuits...

We've been getting a lot of mist and even a touch of fog after dark and some mornings.

Took my boy to school this morning and again blue cloudless skies. 15:30 and the skies are starting to dull and you guessed it the clouds are starting to gather.

Just walked the hounds and you could see the clouds with a stopwatch waiting for me to get back put the sct on the tripod to completely cover the sky in 10mins!

Clear when I got in, scope and cams in the garage to cool down whilst I rammed supper down. Staggered out with the mount and ***ger me! Clouds everywhere.

Guess I had all the luck

I squeezed a couple of hours in after dark. Couldn't believe the sky was still clear when I got home. Put out the scope, had a cuppa and beheld!

Clouds moved in around 9, but by the time I'd packed up they'd gone again

AS if by a miracle gaps started to appear in the clouds jumped up and straight out. Plenty of cloud came over but also enough clear spots for me to get several hours observing in :icon_cheers:

I hate that bright orange colour to the overcast sky where I am. It's just a reminder of the stinking LP.

Another EMS members post last night got me to look outside - the clouds had cleared. Had a very pleasant couple of hours viewing.
