Newbie just signed on. Got given an old [40 years] homemade newtonian with an eight inch mirror. Have in mind a rolling restoration. Since I got it the skies have been uniformly grey from horizon to horizon, teach me to live by glasgow. however in the twenty minutes of clear sky in the last month I managed to see the moon and jupiter although I only have one eyepiece of enormouse magnification but poor condition, will have to replace focusing tube for a standard one. Less magnification and better quality would be better
