That's great! And such tiny stars, like a sprinkling of dust. (not the camera sort!)

Postie delivered an ADM Dual Saddle Upgrade for the AVX mount from FLO. Nice bit of engineering, not a fault on it. On first fitting the dec axis would lock up as I tightened the puck bolts, the solution I eventually found, is to slacken off/adjust the nut under the counter weight bar. There are two set screws to loosen a couple of turns, a 1/16 (1.5mm) allen key fits. Now undo the nut about one turn, now fit the puck and tighten the bolts, return to the nut and adjust so the dec axis can rotate without too much play, and re-tighten the set screws. This may cause the counter weight bar lock nut to now come into contact with the dec casting, and lock everything again, the solution is to fit 16x26mm washers in that nut to space it back from the casting, 3 or 5mm or so. panic over. Look at me knob's! But now the dovetail bar on the newt is too short 🤦♂️

My best ISS so far (and in colour)
Laurieast replied to Kon's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
Top left is incredible! the colours as well, best I think I have seen of it. Great work Kostas. -
Awesome! Great detail with your aperture on the close ups.

Postie delivered from Altair Astro an iOptron Vixen/Losmandy Dual Dovetail Saddle. This will live on the EQ3-2 which has a nightmare design. I thought it might fit the AVX as well, but it won't. It is not the same as advertised, with levers instead of knobs, and two clamp areas instead of continuous. The clamps, springs and knobs fall off if you undo them a couple of turns too far.

Great shot, and detailed, has a great feel to it, like your actually looking at in the sky.

These are superb, great detail. What colour setting are you using in Autostakkert, debayering? I ask because of the slight purple tone in some of the images. -

Thanks Kon, had to find some way of keeping up the astronomy during the summer! 😁 -
Those are great, again! I see your chip is slightly larger than mine. I have some in the can from 5:30pm 😁. Had to put up a parasol to shade the scope. Not looked at the results yet 🤭 Then I did a Go-To on Arcturus before packing up, just to see if you can, and there it was! and shot a colour avi in a bright blue sky. No sign of M3 though, maybe that's pushing it too far!

Daylight Moon with Pro Planet 642 filter
Laurieast replied to Roy Foreman's topic in Imaging - Lunar
I only just found your image here, very sharp and just the right contrast, good clean sky. Have you tried at 10%? I was being lazy yesterday and put up the ED80 and the Canon EOS, I dare not show you 🤦♂️ -
This is all a great job, and it looks impressive and tidy. But is there a way of avoiding the drilling part? Like suspending the bolts above the hole by sky hooks, and filling in around them? or is epoxy a known better way of doing it? I have no building knowledge. This has been on my to-do list for a long time, and as I get older the mount seems to be gaining mass.

Get a camera on it with an IR Pass filter, then the sky is black all day 😁

I just had a read about this at FLO, it's in my basket now. Interesting comment comment about improving guiding as well. "installing the 642BP in front of your guiding camera dramatically improves guiding quality, as image-motion from one frame to the next is minimised."

Cleaning primary mirror.
Laurieast replied to Dave scutt's topic in Getting Started General Help and Advice
Have you seen this? Just a thought, to help avoid any scratches. "There are many videos covering the well founded cotton wool and distilled water method for cleaning telescope mirrors. Here I experiment with a different technique which I now believe is the best way to thoroughly clean a mirror without damage. Please watch in 4K for best results.
