I wonder if it will work in the end. As i read the problem its for guiding and maincam. So even two different purposes gives problems using the same.

Maybe try starting with one asi120 unplugged and the other connected one given a role as guider for example. What happens when you plug in the second one? Maybe it recognizes it better

You’ve learned me a lot of terms and its completely explained very well. Dont know if i will ever face an image thats corrected in this exact way. Do you know if, besides the “sharpening” with this method, this software also does this calculation in a (don’t know the exact translation) Increasing way from the center. So lets say m13 is a perfectly round starCluster and is imaged slightly oval and out of focus because it was in the curved area while being photographed. Does this method sharpen the individual stars and leave the oval shape? Or does it decrease the stretch, of the whole image, back to the center and end up as a perfectly round cluster of perfectly round stars?

Already had a flattener and while checking if it was still clean i began to think about what it actually does Other then flattening. I thought it must “shrink” the view in a increasing way from the center and never thought of that area being slightly out of focus. I do wonder how much of an “out of focus” star will look “in focus” when its squeezed to the original round shape. Im going to read your text again, and maybe again. Thx a lot.

Ok. Never thought about that, about the stiffness of the motor and blocking the focuser by itself instead of turning the screws. Yes I recognized most of the focuser as the same as mine. Only the finetune knob seems different. Good advice to start with adding the focusmotor first before upgrading the whole unit. Thx for letting me keep some hundreds in my pocket🙏🏼. you cant see the finefocus on the pic but is not a flat head one. More like a small Flat cone.

Ah nice. Another quattro owner! Maybe mine is a mondaymorning version but i kind of hate that Stock focuser. They upgraded it at one time at least and I probably have the old version. It looks and feels like a hollow toy compared to the focuser on my other scopes. Had to take it apart to at least move in and out in a straight line. The focustube on the inside looks like its cut with a grinder by a drunk tubecutter😑. The finefocus knob on yours looks different so maybe its a other/better version. Im not sure with what i have to upgrade. Asked some prices for starlight focusers but Im not sure if i want to spend 700,- to get a 500,- item work a little bit better. Did you really notice a big difference after the eaf was installed or was the focuser working well even before the eaf? And of course do you own more scopes/focusers to make a good comparison?

Okok. I can only agree with you😅. i didn’t think of all the other problems, just thought without a flattener you get an increase in stretch from the center. What a comacorrector does i cant really tell, dont know what directions its deformed. I thought it was just increase the shrinking of the image till the stars are round. I have Too less experience. But thanks for explaining very well. Im going to read some more about what you wrote.

There must be other thin adapter options. I also use a 1,5 mm eos/t-ring And it has a normal thread i quess

While its a must to process images afterwards, why cant software take out the problems with coma and other deformed stars? Or is it already possible to “shrink” images In a Increasing circular way.

Hm yes im starting to think you’re right. Although im wondering how its done when they’re in the field or somewhere outside having only one battery(or do they use multiple batteries?). Searching for options i came across posts about all kinds of issues using 1 power supply, from low voltage/amps to ground loops and problems with cameras etc. Maybe i have to forget about 1 power supply and get 2 or 3 small 5Amps Power supplies.

I would definitely go for a bigger sc 10/11“ and maybe search the second hand market to stay in budget. An Equatorial mount Like a eq6 and you have a setup for the rest of your life. Im sure you find it for 2000,- Incl needed eyepieces etc.

Wow indeed an expensive battery. Its price is based on the same philosophy of all other astro gear🙄. But good to know its easy mounted on a tripod leg. Do you know if it has some sort of bypass function? To skip the battery when the charge cable is connected, and go straight to the outputs? Then maybe its a good combined power supply for both 220v to 12 / 5 volt connections, and the handiness of a battery.

Yes I probably have to buy a battery sooner or later. For now im just hobbying from the backyard with enough power outlets around me. And even with A battery i would still love to have a single source for All the equipment. I have a 6a power supply thats going to be bored and put as much dc socket in as possible. Its a very wide and open case so plenty of room. Maybe even room for a dc buck converter to make a usb 5v outlet. Its just a shame i cant find a 220v-12v supply that has multiple outputs, ánd small enough to be permanent attached to one of the tripod legs

Thx. Had to google for it, the Nevada supply, first result was the FLO website😎. I believe its a good and solid power supply. I’m only more fan of a supply that will stay on the inside of a tripod leg. Not only for transportation in and out, but also the wiring etc. I prefer to plug and play with one connector. Dont have a observatory or something, have to move in-and outside the house every night. But in the end you use the nevada as a one for all power supply? No need for a second one when 8Amps are available from one source?

To keep the budget available for other stuff i would dive into a second hand stellermate/asiair for around €100,- It helps me a lot With controlling the mount and camera. Its your app-controlled intervalometer, mount control etc. It helps me a lot. Power it up and spend the night sitting behind your desk, or like i often do, from my hammock. serious! but im also still learning all the basics etc. these relative modern devices will do almost everything for you. Plan a session with 30x4 min shots or 200x1 minute shots, in 3 taps on your screen. Watch the preview and even the stacked images while youre swinging horizontal with your coffee next to you. Sometimes put two mounts outside. One for visual while my dslr is clicking the memorycard full. I cant tell how fun it is when you have to manual control the shutter or dont know what youve been imaging till your finished, because ive never been through that stadium. All i know is that automating stuff keeps me more interested in this hobby. I hope

Must have been discussed many times but searching for “powersource” doesnt give a lot of information. im currently using a 12v 6a (sigaret-out) adapter for my mount, a separate 12v 5a adapter to power the other stuff. Both adapters stick with dual-lock on the inside of the tripod legs and stays There when the tripod is stored. does anyone use a single powersource, lets say 8 ampere? And with multiple outputs, lets say 2 or 3? Or do we all struggle with multiple adapters, splitters or pegasus boxes? im planning to mount 2 extra 2.1x5.5 outputs in the housing of the biggest 12v adapter i own, but before drilling the holes (do it anyway because i think its handy) im curious what other single device options are available? The 12v to 5 or 9 is another story and doesn’t require big equipment, its the multiple 12v what im not sure about.

Ha yes is saw it on the picture. It was described as a broken lens. So the light centers on that lens, what gets immense hot, and melts the housing?

While scrolling through some ads on our marketplace i came across a small newtonian. It wasnt the telescope itself that caught my attention but the “faulty” eyepiece picture. Is this the result of a scope aimed at the sun without a filter?
