  1. From all the spare parts of these mounts, i guess this one is the most needed. Google will help you when you want to do a diy repair. Difficult, soldering etc. And hoping that the circuit traces are not damaged. Best is probably to buy a new one.
  2. Not a kind comment Robin, Sorry. Its that we are astro-penpals🙂. Of course not my usual reaction to this kind of horror.
  3. Dropped a C5? Dropped a C5? Dropped a C5? What an i**ot! Anyway, with a caliper measuring 10 threads, divide by 10 will give a good result. Incl the diameter you can find the right size in the lists. Dropped a C5🙄
  4. If you’ve used 6 / 7 controllers with the same issue, could it be in the motor connection side?
  5. Coincidentally had this same issue. Sold last week a focuser that was not much used by me. New owner called to say the motor failed. Not really failed but only worked somewhere during the 3 mm push. He called me to say they didnt work at all but noticed that after each puch the contact got better. Maybe the same issue?
  6. Very nice competition for the nano🙂
  7. So after spending €15,- on 3 long flexible screwdrivers, i only had to make it fit the mount shafts. The set has a 1/4 hex, 1/4 square and 7 mm hex hose clip driver. its really a 2 min job. The 7mm hose clip driver is drilled to 8mm round, and a 3.3 mm side hole to thread it to m4 for a small thightening screw. The 1/4 hex is connected on a Festool bit/drill combo. The changed hose clip driver gives the most normal look, the 1/4 hex driver is the most easy removed ( it snaps on the bit shaft) I’ll probably buy a second set to make two equal cables per mount. For the £13/€15 I’m pleased with it. They are 600mm and soft grip. And most important, i just couldn’t find astro-dedicated long slomo cables Ps. I think if a mount has 6 mm shafts, the work will be more easy. The 7 mm hose driver will probably fit without drilling, and the 6mm hex/drill combo is in much shorter versions available than the 8 mm combo
  8. We in Holland have always clear dry skies.
  9. Thx. From what i’ve read its with the qhy version included. But great info. Thx.
  10. Thx for pointing me in this direction. Looks very promising indeed. The qhy version is probably the first choice. Waiting for order details. Thx again
  11. from all colour cameras, including the recent models, what would give the best combination as guider (oag16x16mm newton-quattro “8”) and planetary camera (skymax180)I prefer not to spend more than 4/500, and brands Altair/zwo/qhy. Even a reply with just a brand/model would help me a lot.
  12. Found an advertisement where they were sold in 2011 as skywatcher sct’s. I guess it didnt work http://www.teleskop-spezialisten.de/SC_6_Schmidt_Cassegrain_SkyWatcher.html
  13. Oh its real? http://www.astroversand.com/Skywatcher1-p157h60s61-Sky-Watcher-Schmidt-.htm
  14. Come on Carl. You can do this. The whole world is watching you having a hard time deciding. We’re with you in this because we’ve all been in that same situation. Take your time.
  15. Maybe used market? Sending through europe isnt really always that expensive
  16. No mine unfortunately also not. My mount has an 8mm shaft. Porta 6 mm? Im planning to add something like this. Or a hex to drill adapter.
  17. Not very experienced but i would go for the heq5🙂
  18. The postman just brought my 60cm slomo cables. They are multifunctional. Even some small work cam be done with the included bit set😬. But seriously, i think i found my longer slomo cables. 8mm sturdy metal shaft, silicon protection, semi-soft handles and a click connection om the mount side for a quick release. 3 pcs of 600mm for €15,-😅
  19. Hmm. Tried the diy solutions to make longer slomo cables. First option failed due to too thin core. The cable core was only 4-5 mm thick. Besides hanging almost straight to the floor, it also had too much flexibility. For take two, i almost ordered two 8 mm shafts, a silicon protection tube, metal end parts to make a connection to the mount and a connection for a handle etc. Then this item showed up. Its a set of 3 screwdrivers, flexible, has a sturdy 8 mm metal core, semi soft handles and 3 different types of connectors. All 3 connectors have some sort of click system to attach bits and other tools. I think it will make a nice quick release attachement to the mount. Although it looks a bit weird to use screwdriver handles (who cares, its dark when they are in use), the feel really good. Are long and soft, so no painful knock to the telescope tube😬. Only thing thats needed is a nice looking connector on the mount shafts. Any tips are welcome!! the screwdrivers feel solid, are 600 mm long and the total costs were €15,- https://www.hbm-machines.com/producten/gereedschap-en-toebehoren/schroevendraaiers-en-schroevendraaiersets/hbm-3-delige-flexibele-schroevendraaierset
  20. Its going to be a nice small binoscope🙂
  21. Did you select skywatcher synscan as device in skysafari?
  22. My sister just sold her 130eq after she asked me why tracking by hand was so hard. I looked at that mount and it surprised me celestron sells that crap. Gears were so rotten and tight that turning the slomo knob almost made me turn the whole mount. Im very curious if tracking by motors can be accurate on this mount
