  1. Grrr! Rub it in why don't yah! Another site is also posting reminiscences of the good old days; over there there's talk of this minimum lasting 70 years :D
  2. "Awful seeing" - But at least you managed a beautiful image.
  3. GONG certainly suggests something brewing. Does any one have a filter to see through cloud and rain?! It's been a miserable few weeks one way or another with the weather conditions.
  4. "Replaced it for £30?" - On a Lunt ? If so it should be covered under warranty. :chinscratch:
  5. I (coughs) quickly cleaned mine with some spectacle spray - so I have it as a back-up spare - to be fair there's a small amount of something stuck on the glass - but the worst of it cleaned off I guess sufficiently well for it to function as a spare.
  6. Just a quick comment to keep me subscribed to this topic! Am impressed with the work done on this, it seems to beat other software options. I'm going to stick my neck out and ask if anyone has been able to solve a conundrum of a spare NexImage 5 (that I have lying about) and a driver hack to get it to work! Otherwise it's back to the purse and a ZWO option from FLO! I've let Mike know on his site that I've had troubles, but someone - somewhere might have a solution
  7. oooh! SkyCam all sky software - Windows and compatible with Imaging Source cameras!
  8. The original OP's aim with this build was to use a NexImage 5 (NI5). Was there success using AllSkEye? I've discovered the software needs ascom drivers, and there aren't any for the NI5 (nor will there be according to Imaging Source). A 120MC is my next option, unless someone can persuade me there's an alternative software I intended to build something using a plastic food box and use it to monitor cloud buildup during the day when solar imaging; and then I thought - why not allsky 24/7 - I there an alternative for AllSkEye?
  9. A beautiful aubade....in picture.
  10. Interesting. You did get the telegraph pole! I wonder if it would be possible to use an old digital camera, and record it that way?
  11. I've had further info from Faye. The silicon sliver is only put there to prevent any undue slippage during shipping - it's not necessary to replace.
  12. The good and the bad....Ignore the dust bunnies, they're on the cloth and were removed before assembly of the new piece. I had a silicon sliver helping to hold the plate in place - the video on Lunt showing how to replace, didn't. As I don't have any, I've just left it without. Tighten then untighten 1/4 turn. I used kitchen scissors easily enough. The other side of the 'bad' filter was worse! It all I'd say it was pretty much 95%+ tarnished....
  13. My replacement filter arrived yesterday morning - no rush to replace it as yet, we've not had Sun for a few days. Will need to watch a video or two to make sure I know what I'm doing....
  14. There's no harm in sending them the images, even if just to clarify whether it's OK. I'd try the main US contact.
  15. Alan, contact which is closer to you. Though Faye at Lunt USA may oblige. I'm told mine is on its way, from Germany - only taken 10 days since despatch to not yet appear! It must be a new stock they have, which is why I've been waiting ages
  16. Thanks chaz, I think my problem, though seemingly common, is slightly more nuanced in that its a material breakdown rather than some thing on the filter that can be cleaned.
  17. Interesting chaz, no one at Lunt, or at TH, have said anything to me other than to replace it. Mind if it isn't here by next week I might just give a polish option. btw, another day with almost wall to wall sunshine to compound my misery - on the bright side the weather forecast last night said it would be raining today!
  18. Just had confirmation that a filter departed Bresser on Friday. Ironically, or coincidence, the same day I gave TH a nudge asking for an update!
  19. You maybe right Dave. I'll learn the lesson to go direct the next time, though I understood TH were part of Bresser, and the UK point of contact for Lunt. I seem to have had more luck going via Faye in the States? Usually I find TH very good, but.....!
  20. After almost 3 years of frustration I discovered my green/blue filter was badly marked, no wonder I couldn't get any imaging done - blaming mostly myself and my camera. I'm waiting almost 4 weeks for a replacement from Bresser via TH, so far; so I mailed Lunt US on Monday and a replacement should be on its way - but the service so far has been sub-par for me!
