  1. Are there any bench grinder wheel balancing experts here ? I bought a bench grinder but had to return it as it was impossible to balance the wheels. Thought I would spend a bit more and bought a better one, same problem. It was replaced and I spent a few hours trying to balance the wheels but still no success. I have tried two methods of balancing and scoured YouTube for tips but still no luck. I consider myself to be very practical and have built and fixed all sorts of things over the years but this has got me stumped. If anyone can suggest any tips or methods to stop me from scratching my head it would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Hi,

I have a Skywatcher straight finder scope which as far as I know is unused and would be happy to do a swap.

    Regards,

    Maurice.

  5. I had an AZ4 and while it was ok it was not very user friendly regarding fine adjustments IMO. I sold it and bought an AZ5 and it is so much easier to control. Others may disagree but it is my opinion and would not go back to an AZ4.
  6. Hi Matt, welcome to SGL. Looks like your daughter will be teaching you in the very near future 😀
  7. I t would be easier to use your phone and control it with WiFi.
  8. I am a firm believer in the old saying " if it aint broke don't fix it" because sometimes updating can cause problems you never knew existed.
  9. Since I watched collimating with a laser by Astronomy and Nature on YouTube I have never looked back. It now only takes me a couple of minutes.

    Hello again!

Hi Mike, welcome back to SGL.
  13. Hi and welcome to SGL. Great choice of scope, when I got one a few months back I was amazed at the clarity for such a reasonable price.
  14. Hi and welcome to SGL. Up to 10x50 should not be too much of a problem hand held but you could always try an upside down brush to give you an idea what a monopod is like to use. Like any other subject binoculars are very subjective and people have varying opinions. I recommend you take a look at http://binocularsky.com/ as it is full of very useful information.
  15. A few months ago I picked up a Celestron 130 SLT and was amazed at how clear the images are and the go to system is the easiest I have ever used. It is light enough to carry the complete set up and since I built a motor for the focuser it is virtually vibration free. These can be picked up for £200/300 and imo are great value for money.
  16. Nice job, I couldn’t help wondering why your scope looked a bit strange until I realised the focuser and finder are on the opposite side of the OTA to most scopes.
