    Hello all

    Hi Gary, welcome to SGL.
  4. I have the Celesron Skymaster 15 x 70 which come with a plastic adapter so the first thing I did was to buy a metal type which are much more stable. Nearly all monopods come with the standard 1/4” thread so you can choose whichever one you like. Mine is just a basic telescopic model.
  5. I use my 15 x 70 binos with a monopod and find them very steady. Hope I am not stating the obvious here but holding the binos with both hands does not make for steady viewing IMO, I find it much more stable to hold the binos with one hand and the monopod with the other. Works well for me.

    Hi Guys

    Hi and welcome to SGL.
  7. I have no problem with terrestrial viewing through binoculars but I was very disappointed when I bought some binoviewers as they just didn't suit me at all. 😞
  8. All the weather forecasters are at the mercy of Mother Nature and NOBODY can predict what she will do.
  9. I find a monopod very satisfactory with my 15 x 70 binos especially since I added a trigger grip ball head

  11. Hi and welcome back to SGL.
  12. Hi Chris, welcome to the beginning of your road to discovery, you have come to the right place for help and advice.
  13. That would make it a lot more user friendly. My set up for just a hand held controller.
  14. Nice job, but don’t you find it a bit slow ? it used to be a pain for me which is why I designed my own. Now it goes quite fast to very slow but it is very controllable.

    Hello

    Hi and welcome to SGL.
  19. The problem can be fixed by refreshing the firmware as Cosmic Geoff kindly informed me and he also gave me a link to the instructions. All I need now is to locate and buy the correct leads. I think I was forlornly hoping someone had a quick fix but that was wishful thinking 😀
  20. Thank you very much for the links. I have seen the first one and it doesn’t help as it is only a temporary fix which quickly goes back to the original error. The second video is very interesting for the future but it doesn’t look like you can refresh or update the firmware with NexRemote. I will persevere.
  21. Hi, thanks for your reply. I looks like I will need to order the appropriate cables to enable me to perform the update, wish me luck 🤔
  22. Last night had a small window so I decided to try the Nexstar set up but unfortunately it would not go past setting the time, date and location, it just went back to error 16. Looks like I will have to get the necessary cables to refresh my mount.
  23. I decided to have another crack at setting up my scope and found that after the error 16 message if I pressed the enter button a few times it sprang back to life and allowed me to enter the relevant time and location details. It is yet to be tested at night with star align but it is looking hopeful, fingers crossed.
