  1. I use it with a ST120 and a 127 Mak which it handles with ease.
  2. Yes it is a big improvement on the aluminium tripod and allegedly able to take a 9kg payload but I think that would be pushing it.
  3. I have the same mount and tripod and IMO it is a great combination.
  4. You could try wearing a pair of gloves to give you a better grip.
  5. Hi neighbour, welcome to SGL.
  6. Hi and welcome to SGL. I would recommend that you install a free app called Stellarium which will give a map of the stars and planets from your location once you have entered your coordinance. I find it to be one of the most useful aids for locating objects.
  7. Hi and welcome to SGL. If you are looking for reasonably priced eyepieces you will not go wrong with plossl types by a recognised maker, or if you want something better BST Star-guiders are excellent value for money.
  8. Another thing you could try Paul is to stand on a few layers of cardboard or wood, you would be amazed at the difference it makes.
  9. I have lived in Formby for the last 40 years, but it is not the same little village now.

    Hi

    Hi and welcome to SGL.
  11. Thanks, I didn’t know you could get an adapter for the Skymax. It looks like a great idea but mine was more fun and a lot faster 😀
  12. Just wondering how you managed to fit that motor focuser to a Skymax 127. 🤔
  13. I found that longer knurled head screws is a big improvement over the tiny head supplied ones as you can ache a much better grip.
  14. I think the type I have are no longer available but Amazon have them at reasonable prices.
  15. I have had a pair of heated insoles for years and provided you don’t go on a long hike they last very well. Mine work with a little battery pack that attaches round your ankles or boots, wouldn’t be without them.
  16. Hi Alex, welcome to SGL.
  17. My most useful addition is a motor focuser which I designed and built myself as aftermarket focusers are not very common, or they are very expensive.
  18. I can only comment on the 20mm version and I am very impressed with it and love he sharp views it gives me in my F5 and F11 scopes. Definitely a keeper.
  19. They are definitely not SciFi stories as they contain lots of solar data. I have sent you a PM.
  20. I was recently given 2 copies of Sun Mag by Neil Clarke GOCAS, January and February 2001 editions. As I am not really in to Solar it would be good to pass them on to someone who would appreciate them. Please let me know if you would like them.
