  1. The Rosette is a good shout and aside from the obvious M42 and Horsehead you could maybe try the California Nebula or the Flaming Star region in Auriga. These both respond pretty well to a modded dslr
  2. I use an clip in L-eNhance with a modded 450D and I'm pretty happy with the results I'm getting and don't have any issues focussing etc. and I'll hopefully be moving to cooled OSC and L-eXtreme later in the year. I was considering buying the 2" L-eXtreme before the OSC as it'll fit quite happily in both my V1.5 Redcat and ED72 with OVL Flattener. The only gripe I have with these filters is that they make most nebulae just look red and kill a lot of the subtle colours often seen. Star colour is also ruined as well as reflective parts of certain nebula like M42 as @michael.h.f.wilkinson pointed out above. However these issues are easily sorted by throwing some broadband data into the mix
  3. It was only a quick process, all done in photoshop.
  4. Hi, I hope you don't mind but I've had a quick play with the data and there is more to be had out of the image, however the sheer number of stars is a bit of a pain. It's a nice stack though
  5. Beautiful M31, great work 😍
  6. Great work, lovely Rosette. I think I prefer the first version too, but either way I'd be over the moon with both of them
  7. Thanks Thank you, yeah it certainly has a lot going for it
  8. Thank you, appreciated 😀
  9. Managed to get first light on my newly acquired WO Redcat at the weekend. It's such a nice little scope to use This was captured over friday and saturday night from my bortle 8 garden with an approx. 70% moon parked next door to Auriga. There were some really strong gradients to remove, plus I couldn't really push the data any further to bring out more of the finer detail without killing the image with noise. 113x240 second light frames with flats and bias (dithered) William Optics Redcat 51 V1.5 Canon 450D self mod Optolong L-eNhance HEQ5 Pro SW Evoguide 50ED/ZWO ASI120MM Mini EQMOD/Stellarium/PHD2/APT Stacked in DSS and processed in Siril and Photshop
  10. That's a lovely image of a target I've never seen before. Oh and the star colours are beautiful, great work
  11. I occasionally use my stock 80D for astro work on broadband targets and have found there is no real discernable difference at ISO 200, 400 and 800. The following image was taken at ISO800, 105 x 120 second exposures
  12. Great news OP 👍 I didn't have any luck with Sunderland council either. I have a bright LED street light directly behind my fence to the back of the house which illuminates most of my garden and there is another to the side which although annoying is less troublesome. They said they could install shields but that the weren't going to do it because they are pretty much useless on the new style of street lighting. They do dim them at 10pm then again at midnight but tbh it makes no difference. I have considered putting up my own shield on the light to the back of the house but I can see it just being removed.
  13. Absolutely stunning image, great work 👍
  14. Thank you. It's certainly one of the best in my book too 👍
  15. Thanks, ah missed the mount. It's an HEQ5 Pro. The ED72 is a great little scope for the money
  16. The Rosette taken last night from Bortle 8 garden. My first astro in over a month and the sky managed to stay clear for a good 4-5 hours Still a little noisy so may add some more data to it. 17. Praying for a better January 🙏
  18. Some great images in this thread December was pretty much a write off in here in the North East. I did manage around 3.5 hours over several sessions on M45 (canon 80d, SW ED72, HEQ5 Pro)
  19. Thank you I stand corrected, I never knew this. I don't think I've ever used the camera without some form of filter since modification so that's probably why I've never noticed enlarged stars. I do have plans to shoot some targets with a combination of filtered and unfiltered subs if the weather ever plays ball so I'll see what results I get.
  20. Thanks, It was 37 x 7 minute subs (total of 4.5 hours ish) with the 450D, Skywatcher ED72 on a HEQ5 pro from a bortle 8 sky. I'm looking to upgrade to a dedicated cooled camera later this year and was also thinking of pairing it with an L-eXtreme 👍
