  1. Hi Alan Another thought(s).. which I may already have said and which you probably have done... Try clearing down all the previous EQMOD alignment points before starting alignment and make sure that they aren't being saved on park or loaded on unpark. When I was using EQMOD I didn't save alignment points and did a fresh alignment on a nearby star (same side of meridian as target) then slewed to the target. Another thing to do would be to try with the Synscan handset. Dave
  2. Hi.. in Pixinsight there’s a script called NBRGB (I think) that adds the Ha or other NB data.. you need to play around with the settings though and it’s s bit fiddly. I have found though that it’s much easier If you have photoshop (or similar software) as then you can split the channels paste the Ha over the red channel and use blend mode lighten, you can also put an adjustment layer (levels or curves) on just the pasted Ha and adjust the result to taste. Then recombine as RGB. Whichever way you go I think you might need to stretch your Ha a bit more before combining to make it contribute effectively. Using Ha as lum generally makes the stars odd and any red go pink. HTH Dave
  3. M52 and the Bubble Nebula, my first image of the season from home and with the help of more clear nights in a row than I can remember! Non identical twin scopes, Esprit 150 plus SX-46 and piggybacked Esprit 100 ASI1600 on a Mesu 200. 4hrs per channel of RGB and 7hrs Ha on the Esprit 150 and 4.5hrs Ha plus 9hrs Oiii on the Esprit 100 (also capture 7.5hrs Sii for an SHO version). Processed in Pixinsight and Photoshop in HaR_OiiiG_OiiiB. Thanks for looking Dave
  4. Alan Another thought... Given that you've changed the camera how close to focus are you.. maybe that's what you cant see anything. Have you got both the 16.5mm and 21mm spacers on the ASI071 to replicate the DSLR back focus? (Assuming you haven't changed the focus from when it was ok with DSLR) Dave
  5. Hi Alan.. id guess theres some way of adjusting the histogram stretch in APT so you can see the image.. not familiar with APT but hopefully someone will be able to advise. Maybe capture an image and use your processing software to check there’s something there.. edit.. just had a look at the APT manual and there a ccd/CMOs mode that needs to be used .. there’s also a dslr mode which I guess you’ve been using .. I just googled APT Histogram .. hope that sorts it Dave
  6. Hi Alan Easy mistake.. I’ve made it many times .. Hopefully it’ll work in daylight.. the moons about so you can check it on that.. just in case id lock the hammers away first! Dave
  7. Alan in phd2 and apt with the ascom and zwo native drivers installed you should see a list including zwo asi camera asi camera (1) (ascom) and asi camera (2) (ascom) just need to to figure out which is which Dave
  8. Alan I wonder if the no darks library may be the clue that PHD2 is connected to the wrong camera ie the 071 Dave
  9. Hi Alan Are you putting EQMOD alignment points both sides of the Meridian? Does it work well one side and not the other, if so then maybe you have a bit of cone error (scope not orthogonal to the mount axis). Dave
  10. I was in a field near Wisembourg France with my family.. it was overcast, I remember everything going still as the eclipse started but there was no view of it, then from across the field a cheer went up as a piece of clear sky allowed us all to see the end of the eclipse .. corona then diamond ring.. absolutely stunning Dave
  11. Wow! Fabulous image Peter.. well done Dave
  12. Hi Alan.. based on my setup I’d expect the focus point to change quite a bit with that kind of temperature drop, so worth keeping an eye on it and refocusing every couple of degrees and see if that sorts the issue out.. over time and with experiment you’ll find out how often is necessary Dave
  13. I most certainly do! That’s excellent Alan, well done. Dave
  14. Not clear from your post but If you haven’t already done so you need to download and install the ASCOM platform .. there’s pretty good instructions on how to get it all working on Lightvortex astronomy .. it’s in the Tutorials section under the “imaging” tab. hth Dave
  15. Very nice Gav.. I’d stop there, and add to your collection.. how was the auto focus? Dave
  16. Agree v2 looks significantly better in close up.. (apart from for me the Ha) .. lesson learned don’t make judgements based on looking on the phone. Thanks Vlaiv.. apologies Rodd
  17. The top one Rodd.. Ha looks better Dave
  18. Glad you're sorted Gav.. the file was dated Dec 17 Dave
  19. Hi Gav Is this it Dave Pulsar Observatories ASCOM Setup.msi
  20. Very nice Carole.. is that the 50mm lens ? Dave
  21. Very nice Alan, stars all the way in and a nice propeller. A slight top let to bottom right gradient - do you have any software for gradient removal? here it is with the gradient removed by pixinsight ABE Dave
  22. I took my 10" LX50 off its wedge/fork mount when the electronics packed up and put it on an AZEQ6.. apart from then having a working scope I also gained go-to capability which to me was a real bonus. Downside was that it was somewhat more difficult to move about. This resulted in the purchase of an observatory and the slippery slope (£££) of astrophotography. Dave ps should add that mine was left set up on a trolley and wheeled out of a shed
  23. Very nice Steve.. great colour (I liked your colourful M51 too). I think though that you have black clipped the outer bits.. it probably just about fills that frame Dave
  24. Very nice Alan, well done!. Just reward for all that hard work.. I ran it through Pixinsight Automatic Background Extraction which has removed the slight orange gradient to the top right. Nice FOV and good stars to the corners so good decision to go for the ASI071 Dave
  25. Hi Tom my settle settings are 5 secs and 1 pixel (ie 1.2 arcsec) and it seems to work pretty well. If you’re not already doing so when making changes when the sequence is running its best to use the Control Panel as they take immediate effect. Dave
