  1. With the recent poor viewing I have decided to strip down my HEQ5 pro mount and upgrade the bearings and add the Rowan belt modification. From threads I have looked at on this forum and also looking at the Astrobaby guide I think I need the following bearings, I know many on here have already upgraded the bearings so thought I would just check they are correct before ordering. I have ordered rubber seals in order to prevent moisture ingress. Now I know these tend to make them run slightly tighter than metal seals but they do not run at speed so though they would be better. Any thoughts? Steve
  2. Also you can pick 2nd hand DSLRs pretty cheap especially the body only sales if you only want it for astro and using it with your scope. A good spec astro camera still seems to command a fair hefty price. I think that personally I would have not bothered with DSLR and jumped straight in and bought a dedicated camera but I just couldn't afford (still can't but saving ? ) but it is a real cheap way of getting into astrophotography. And even if you pay out to get it modified usually you can get a reasonable amount back when you sell it on so really costs very little in the end. Steve
  3. I shouldn't think so. You should be able to get it all set up on the moon right now to road test it so no issues in the little darkness we get at this time of year. Steve
  4. Looks nice there and blue skies above - that's not natural in this hobby. I can see dark clouds over Ripon ⚡ for the next 3 weeks whilst the rest of the UK basks in glorious sunshine and clear night skies ☀️. Well that is the norm when new equipment arrives. But I really hope that it is not the case for you (mostly because I am just a stones throw away). In all seriousness good luck with the new purchase. Steve
  5. Welcome Lorenzo, Don't know if you used a translator for that post but if not I would say nothing wrong with your English. Anyway I am fairly new to both Astronomy and this forum but enjoying both. I think you will find this forum very friendly and hope it helps uyou to get out and about and use your very nice equipment. Steve
  6. That's a place I love very much and those are stunning photos. Steve
  7. Thanks for the info very interesting. I bet your electricity company loves you with heated beds that size . You certainly are into some interesting stuff. Steve
  8. Amazing. Probably not the most accurate printer out there but those huge vases don't look too bad. I wonder what the electricity bill would be if you had a room sized heated bed ? I guess you would have to get your own made if you wanted a large heated bed (not really meaning room sized but say 1000 x 1000 mm), after all they are really only a circuit board, just need to be very flat, which of course gets much more difficult with size. Steve
  9. In my short time as a member I can only echo their posts in this thread and say it is a wonderful forum. Very friendly, the more experienced are extremely helpful which means you are not afraid to ask any question at all. I have gathered so much advise in such a short time on here, and it's been fun. I now have my first scope but due to good advice I have not lashed out £100's on something that just wasn't right for me. No I have saved a lot of those £100s to save up more and eventually probably will blow it on something, but it will be something that is right for me at the right time. Also a very easy site to navigate for us older less computer savy. Looking forward to clear skies now because they aint been any since I brought my scope home - far from it Thank-You Stargazers Steve
  10. Apart from the 20 years old bit (I am closer to 3X that magnification) this is myself to a tee. So busy looking at what to buy and asking what is the best scope I can get to start out in this hobby this brought me right down to earth and made me stop and think before spending my hard earned cash. Thanks for the link. Steve
