I went back and forth experimenting, i consider this an in between result, i'm planning on capturing more so i might have cut some corners in the processing 😏

M45 Weird Halos
Miguel1983 replied to AndyThilo's topic in Imaging - Image Processing, Help and Techniques
hope you have better luck this time round ! When i got my Esprit 120 in oktober i didn't get the ES Reid check, luckily the optics are perfect on mine, took a gamble there. It's really strange you got two scopes that weren't good 😖 -
Very nice Wim !

Obsy building started ! (and now complete!)
Miguel1983 replied to Miguel1983's topic in DIY Observatories
Thanks, there were plans for building a carport and gardenshed combo for a few years, and in 2018 when this hobby enchanted me, i added the roll-off function to the final design, so at first it may look like overkill, but it is a multifunctional building. -
Obsy building started ! (and now complete!)

It does, i assure you, its quite heavy 🥵 , also i just go up there to open the roof, remove the cover and empty the dehumidifier, so no raves are happening up there 😁 -

Hi, The observatory is finished for while now and i've made a short movie of the build ending with a tour. PS, does anyone now if it's possible to change the title of this post ? I would like to change it into "finished" Thanks- 118 replies

Found the problem for the stiff RA and Dec axes. The thumb screw above the polarsope needs to be loosened it seems, and i loosened the bolt that holds the mount head just a bit and voila smooth action 🤗
-
Hi, just received this mount today and mounted my scope and accessories, as i was trying to get everything balanced i immediately noticed the RA and DEC aren't smooth at all even at almost full load (see pic) , not handy for balancing i would say. Other than that everything seems Ok, the motors do make a short cracking sound wen start and stop slewing, but that's normal i guess, it's not belt driven so.. Got it running via EQMOD too so HC remains in its package. Maybe a little point of criticism, SW should have made the motor cables more flexible. Also strange that the counterweight shaft of this tiny mount is 20mm and the shaft on my EQ6R is 18mm. I need to check if my EQ6 polemaster adapter fits this mount, let's hope so. If anyone has this mount to i'd like too hear if RA and DEC are also not smooth and if a fix is possible. Thanks

Prototype Sky-Watcher Evolux ED Refractors
Miguel1983 replied to FLO's topic in Sponsor Announcements and Offers
Man, that i missed this post back in Oktober, that 62ED would fit in perfect here 😍 -
I think i'm at a capture/process ratio of 1/2 right now 😆
-
it still is far from perfect, but i did learn a lot in pix, took me hours and hours but i guess that the right way to learn 🙂
-
Thanks, well i'm a pix newbie, and processing noob in general so it's not easy for my, but these last days i made some progress.

V2, not there yet, still need more data and skills. I didn't do the Deconvolution this time, couldn't get it right.
-
Hi, yes i know, i see it as a first draft Pix-lesson, version 2 will follow 😅
-
New years night wasn't clear as promised by CO and it doesn't look like there will be an imaging opportunity soon, so i started with the data i have for now, i most definitely can use the exercise in Pixinsight. So i got 616 60s subs, of witch 182 Luminance. Stacked in DSS and processed in Pixinsight I did a few things wrong, like deconvolution and to much noise reduction, but i definatly made progress so i'm reasonably happy. I will rework this data once i got some more subs.

Data aquisition time is cut in half, to quote mr Hadden in Contact "why build one if you can have two for twice the price" 😁

Bortle scales and Millicandela measurements
Miguel1983 replied to bomberbaz's topic in Observing - Discussion
That second scale doesn't leave much tolerance, i think most people would like the top one. I got a mere 19,68 last night, measured with Dark Sky Meter app. -
Maybe in the color data I might add some Ha too later on.
-
Nice David, Same target here, but i used the Esprit 120 so i got M81 also. Did you use a filter ?
-
Still in progress, i need more LUM. But i stacked the 182 60s subs i got so far to see whats there already RGB is for later, got 150 minutes per channel. Processed in Pixinsight

You don't need the handcontroller anymore, like you said, plug the EQDir cable in the mount directly. EQMod and EQASCOM need to be installed, and the Skywatcher Synscan mount controller here. For controlling the mount i can recommend Cartes Du Ciel witch can be found here. In Cartes Du Ciel you can hit connect to mount, this wil promt a EQMOD screen, here you can unpark the mount and chose the type of tracking. Then you can return to Cartes and select/search your object and do a go to/slew to. You can do a star alignment this way, if you use a camera and capture program like APT to control your camera and mount. In APT you can set your planetarium software, Cartes Du Ciel, and in liveview you activate the crosshair and center in on your selected target with the scope buttons, once centered hit SYNC button in Cartes dus Ciel. Good luck
