Guiding issues (EQ3 Pro mount): a detailed cry for help
Miguel1983 replied to jusasi's topic in Imaging - Discussion
Hi, at first glance i see similar things i've encountered with my EQM35-pro. I have this mount since January and tried to use 3 times now, i had invested is a pocked powerbox, a USB hub and a small laptop to make this my second lightweight imaging rig, boy was that disappointing. The aim was to use EQMOD without the HC directly trough a eqdir cable. Calibration wouldn't finish, or return a prompt of "unexpected value's" or "star didn't move enough" etc. Tried to guide with the HC and with ST4 cable, so no eqmod involved, no luck. Basically, a gave up, i don't need this with a new mount, now its sitting there gathering dust, conclusion for me is don't buy anything less than a heq5. Someone way smarter than me would probably adjust the eqmod settings, but i wouldn't know where to start. I should have just returned it to FLO, or at least contacted them, but with all that bad weather we had in january, february and first half of march i'just didn't find the courage to keep on testing/trying I hope you get this sorted, i will follow along, maybe there's a solution here -
i'll look into that, thanks

Hi, just an inbetween quick process of my Lum data from last night. This is 131 x 60s, looks promising i think 🙂

Nice ! What mount is that Esprit 150 riding on ? -

This was taken with the Esprit 120

If you mean how i shoot them, i use APT CCD flats aid with a minimum exposure length of 0,2sec and i use a LED drawing panel and white paper to dim it more. After that i just trow everything in DSS

Hi, i have tried flat darks, no success the problem was that the flats were over correcting. I have tried several settings, it’s a mystery. Using my friend’s bias solved it, explain that 🤷🏻♂️

I had another go at it, quite fast processing, i think this version is softer Version 2 Version 1 Version 2.3 with more color saturation

hi, yes i use pi and on a beginner level i must add, so there's lots to improve i'm sure, one day i'll shed my Padawan cloak 😉

Hi, after M101 was done i moved to the Leo Triplet, i must say i had some guiding issues on both nights i shot that target and lost several hours because i was sleeping like a brick. So i'll move on to another target for now and leave the triplet behind. Still i've managed 110 x 2m Lum and 35 x 2m each on RGB, and this is what i've made of it. Not quite there yet, but i'm happy with it so far. Thanks for looking, commenting

Hi, just finished M101 after a troblesome start, there seems to be something wrong with my Bias frames, a friend let me use his bias and all worked out. So, this is M101 from last weekend and past week. I've shot 335 2min L subs , and on average 150 2min subs on R G and B. I got 7 hrs of Ha data too, but i'll add them some other time. Thanks for looking, commenting

Remaining dust bunnies, processing them out
Miguel1983 replied to kirkster501's topic in Imaging - Discussion
Hi, i'm reviving this topic because i have te same problem currently. My flats don't seem to be working properly and dust smudges ar left in the image, i've already took new flats but that did nothing. Any suggestions ? Thanks -

Typically i have an RMS ranging from 0.5 to 0.7", when i was guiding with a guidescope this was much lower, as low as 0,1". It's quite logical, guiding errors are going to be magnified proportional with the guidescope focal length, try astrophotography with a C11...

Looks good, but that being said, the numbers don't say everything, guiding results trough a 250mm FL guidescope won't be the same as at 800-1000mm FL trough a OAG. At least, that what iv'e heard and experienced 🙂

It came with the Celestron, it had SC treads witch i replaced with a 2" nosepiece. I like two inch diagonals, enables you to use any eyepiece, with the Mac 127 the bigger 2" eyepieces with fieldstop over 1,25" wil get some vignetting.
