That was Wednesday night for me, the first time :)

Hope you guys had a good session. It was pretty sketchy stuff for me, mostly involving patching up cloud damaged mosaic panels. Going to look at processing it all tonite.

      :)

I got my longest guiding session last night

and had my DEC corrections going the wrong way :(

      RA wasn't too bad.

fortunately, just the target drifted 'down' so when stacked I have very cropped result

      LOL

Yes, I sorted the Star 71, though I haven't tested it, but it was obviously wobbly and is now solid, so will be fine. The new altair scope has replaced the old SW 80ED. It seems lovely and the autofocus is working well, pausing guiding while running it and everything is fine when starting up again. So, happy days!

      What you on?

Im cooking up an "ultra pelcian"... 8 solid hours of Ha to really give it the beans. Just running the data through Ps now.... its looking really clean.

Beautiful - nothing beats loads and loads of data. It also makes it much easier to process. I look forward to seeing the finished bird!

  4. Guiding tonite! (Adding colour to the mosaic)

  5. Guiding tonite! (hopefully!)

      Uranium235

Well, the data is not calibrated yet but its looking better than my previous attempts (which were awful!). My location isnt really suited to dark stuff. Might have to seek a co-op on this one as ive got no colour data.

This one sound familiar, I must look for it tonight- reflection nebula are tough IMHO.

  7. Guiding tonite! And giving the new ADM saddle its first serious test.

  8. Guiding tonite! Star71 making belated return to the night sky.

      and i'm binning them

next option is stick the 12 " dob on the mount and try that

    3. Uranium235

      Uranium235

Might be an impossible ask without really fast optics. Unless you go with the dob + binning idea.  Well, thats me done for the night... time to crawl into bed...lol.

Has to be the 71 but I am biased.

      Uranium235

lol... well its all academic now as its been cloudy since I put the scope out (typical!). I'll give it another hour then give up.

  11. Hmmm... not guiding tonite! Looks clear, but it aint.

S11 you say that will be fun for you:smile:

    2. Uranium235

      Uranium235

Yep, there is a lot to catch up on - probably starting off with either the cave or pelican. The only need a couple of hours in SII to get the required result.

  13. I nominate myself muppet of the week... left the DSLR on AV... doh!

  14. I say old boy... its cleared up spiffingly nicely out there! Just grabbing some subs before the Moon rises too much.

  15. Looks clear.... but it aint really. No good for imaging anyway!

sounds like a plan mate! Its raining here so Im going to turn in, hopefully tomorrow night will bring something... although Summer skies arent usually the greatest for observing or imaging.

  16. Maybe.. just maybe, the sky will improve enough to get out tonite (looking a little fuzzy @ the mo)

    1. Marky1973

      Marky1973

Hope you got the chance old chap! Forecast here was clear from 10pm to 7am.... shame the sky didn't agree. Not too disappointed as the moon was bright and there are so few hours of real darkness these days... think I might have to retire for a month or two from imaging and practice my processing... and maybe get a scope for visual to pass the time! :-)

      Uranium235

Tonight has been alright, better than Thursday anyway! I ended up chucking out most of that nights data because it was just damaging the image.

  17. Mulling over the prospect of a 130pds dual shooter... cheap, cheerful, but effective.

    3. Uranium235

      Uranium235

Its alright :) I have a plan, there is quite a bit of give in one on one of my dual bar saddles - so its possible to re-attach the saddle a bit skew-iff - probably just enough for it to point the 2nd telescope in the right direction (or close enough). No up/down adjustment required, its just left/right.

I hope that you can get this working, would love to see a full report on it if you do as it is something I have considered from time to time myself.
