  1. Hello Stargazers, I always have had passion for astronomy and all this time I have been mostly a reader than an active stargazer. I am searching for a good telescope to start that will allow me to get to know the sky and seek for deep sky as well.

I have checked the Skywatcher Dobson N200/1200 (http://www.astroshop.eu/skywatcher-dobson-telescope-n-200-1200-skyliner-classic-dob/p,4440)

and I have check for Skywatcher Dobson telescope MC 90/1250 Heritage Virtuoso (http://www.astroshop.eu/skywatcher-dobson-telescope-mc-90-1250-heritage-virtuoso-dob/p,33071)

I am open minded please advise. Thank you.

  2. Yes, thank you, I have just upgraded from a Celestron 127 equipment star finder and  I cannot get my software to work, also my controller is in Spanish, how do I convert it to English?.

  3. Hi Everyone,

Trust all of you are enjoying the night sky :)

I need some help. I currently own a Orion 10" dob and a 130sf Vixen  providing pretty good views. I'm in search of  a good go to scope that will give me good views of the  lunar , planets and the DSO's

After doing some research I have narrowed my options to the following but finding it very difficult to choose due to few specifications eg: the focal length / focal ration - Celestron NexStar 8SE GoTo Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope /  Orion StarSeeker IV 150mm GoTo Mak-Cass Telescope / Orion StarSeeker IV 150mm GoTo Reflector Telescope

Out o the above options currently the  Orion StarSeeker IV 150mm GoTo Reflector Telescope happens  to be the cost effective once with a decent mount but with a short focal length/ratio and the other two are far superior with reference to same and not to forget the 08" aperture on 8se.

Please be kind enough to provide some guidance in or do to make a decision.

    Cheers,

    Kasun

  4. Do you still have the instructions as the web link does not work any more. My nephew has taken his telescope eyepiece apart and I have no idea how to put it back together

    Can you help?

  5. HI there, I note you have an Equinox80 which I'm about to order, and also Hyperions and Televues EPs. Do you use the Hyperions on the Eq80 without any problems? I'm looking at a 2" one but not sure if it's too heavy, esp with a star diagonal. And do you Barlow them? Doesn't seem much point in using a Barlow with a widefield, better get dedicated EP's, but then what do I know! Any thoughts welcome, good luck.

  6. Any one know if this telescope is any good

  8. Hi Geryllax Vu,

You say in your entry for 29th June 2013 that the first postulate of Einstein in his Special Theory of Relativity states "there is no experiment that can be performed in an enclosed laboratory that can detect absolute motion"

About three years ago I invented a mechanical/optical device that measures absolute motion, it's very simple and a Professor at Manchester Uni said in a letter that the idea definitely works, it requires no information coming in from outside BUT nobody I have approached has shown any interest. Please can you explain why there is this lack of interest in what I think is a major step forward in physics.

  9. Hi Guys i was thinking about getting the Sky Watcher Sky Adventurer has anyone got any advice??

  10. Thanks guys I will give it a go.  To answer one question, nothing happens ie it does not track, it will slew under the control of the handset but despite the display showing the 2 chevrons against lunar tracking it just sits there.

  11. Ioptron iEQ45 Pro, anyone got experience of using this mount with the Az Base adapter? also how does this compare for ease of set up to say the Az EQ6 GT in alt az mode, need a simple to use goto mount for may OMC200.

  12. Hi,

I just joined this forum. I saw your post in 2014 about your first light with the ASI120MM monochrome camera on a Coronado SolarMax telescope:

I have a Coronado SolarMax 60 double-stack, and I'm thinking of upgrading my webcam from the Philips ToUcam 740 to the ASI120MM. My question is: How did you get the full-disk image of the Sun with your camera setup? Did you have to do a mosaic of two separate hemisphere images of the Sun shot at full resolution? I tried to image the Sun with the SolarMax 60 and the ToUcam, but even at prime-focus, the solar disk is still cropped. Kindly let me know. Thanks!

    Edwin

  13. Hi Ed,  do you have a address for the 0.85x reducer  can't find it on PayPal  regards John.

Unfortunately no we can't do this. The concept of the status update is exactly that, for updating the status of the member's profile. ie Just seen Jupiter - absolutely gobsmacked etc., not for asking questions, which would get a wider audience if posted in the correct forum section.

  16. Would a bridge camera b good enough 4 imaging the planets?

  17. Hi Members,

I am an amateur stargazer and joined The Stargazers Lounge last August. This is my first post although I have spent hours scouring through the forums and other content of this site.

My kit consists of: Scopes - Orion Short Tube 90mm Refractor; Orion XT12g Dob Reflector.
    Binos - Orion 20 x 80 Astro; Nikon 10-22 x 50 Zoom; 10 x 42 ProMaster Roofs plus several eyepieces & filters.

There are some pretty spectacular objects in the night (and early morning) skies in Darwin NT, Australia at the moment, unfortunately the skies are very unpredictable during the wet season and that makes it difficult to setup my gear outside.

Looking forward to future posts and continuous learning that this site offers, Cheers.

    Dave

  18. I'm new and I have Nexstar 8 with Canon EOS T5 could you tell me the right setting for this type of camera.

  19. Hi all, I have been trying to find a detailed review of the Skywatcher star gate. I have recently sold my 16 inch light bridge(which I was not overly impressed with) and are looking for a larger replacement. If anybody owns or has used this scope, or could direct me to an in depth review I would be most grateful. Many thanks James.

  20. I have an older telescope Meade 4504 and when I look in viewfinder the image I see is slanted. Any advice?

  21. HIYA Folks I am new to all this and am hoping to gain from your experience. My husband would like an astronomical telescope and i dont know what to get , help
