  1. I don't think that it's fair to blame a product because it was ruined by failed batteries.
  2. It really depends how you use the rdf. Unless it's a very familiar object I just use mine for initial placement near a bright naked eye star and then star hop with the raci On this basis I find a telrad works on my big dobs and a baader skysurfer 3 on my fracs. I am with Mike on fracs and telrads.
  3. Here's my current case with space for a few more yet (pair of 11mm TV plossls, maybe a pair of 8mm, another 32mm bcp, a 9mm and 13mm Delite and maybe eventually a 35mm Panoptic). Bit of a rubbish pic. Plus my solar box and a finders box (not shown)
  4. See and you all survived I never worry about selling eyepieces. You can always buy again when funds allow or try something different. I do though try and keep what's in my long term plan (although this is subject to regular change - I'm arguing with myself again).
  5. I presume your primary does not have a centre donut ring? If not I would add one as this makes the critical primary collimation easier to get accurate. The secondary collimation has hardly any effect on views. Otherwise your secondary collimation is not bad but could do with a tweak probably. I'd use a Cheshire personally. makes collimation easy.
  6. I have been finding the 25mm plossls with the 1.7GPC works well in my 100mm PST mod at 68x on most days and hope in a month or so the views will be stunning, especially as this is at full disk. That said I have bought a Baader classic 32mm plossl to see if the lower magnification of 53x will be a better lowest power. I'll be doing the bino cyclops check myself ASAP. I suspect that I might not get full disk though.
  7. bear in mind that the two eye view is more than the sum of two single eye views. in other words, don't be disappointed by the single eye view, it's not the same.
  8. Look like 24mm Panoptic which with the 1.7 x gpc equates to 14mm. In my 100mm pst mod I use 25mm and 18mm eyepieces with with a 1.7x gpc but that's a longer 1000mm focal length of course.
  9. Here's my three 102mm f7 ed 120mm f7.5 ed 100mm f10 pst mod
  10. I find aperture really helps with Polaris. Never really tried at very low powers as I don't have them available in the dobs and the fracs are good but obviously less aperture. I'll have a look next time out.
  11. ÌHad a bit of a cull of more bits not in my long term plans and here's my latest iteration. The new foam has been in my loft in a bag for 5 years and its use now suggests I am (ahem)working towards my final arrangement.
  12. The main danger Is the central bolt but this might not even need adjustment. The other is dropping your Allen key but work other than vertical and you'll be fine
  13. If you can adjust it wrong you (or a friend) can adjust It right. Just don't drop anything
  14. Enjoy Derek I wouldn't leave it unattended in conditions like those experienced where where we where we met yesterday!
  15. if that's your hand Ian, they are much bigger than I thought!
  16. Having just swapped my 26mm Nagler for a Baader solar wedge my case looks like I have been robbed! All that's in there is a 24mm Panoptic, a 11mm and 7mm Delite and a Nagler 6-3mm zoom. Although I do have a pair of 18mm bcos in my bino box and a pair of 25mm TV plossls coming at crimbo so not all bad
  17. For solar system objects I have recently been converted to the benefibenefits of a driven eq5. cheap but but very sturdy. I do still like my giro lll for quick sessions.
  18. Keep it cool.....keep it cool......
  19. Did Steve's fall out with the others because nobody said they were all wearing black?
  20. cheers Fozzie, I bought Adam's Baader Zeiss Prism the other day and he mentioned these. He's a top guy and like many of us, rationalising his kit a bit. I am sticking with my plan for 2x 25mm TV plossls or possibly a pair of SLVs depending what comes up first. I do though have a 9mm gap in my box but am trying to remain disciplined for once. I hope to fill this with a 9mm Delite.
  21. Cheers guys. I reckon I'll try one one or one or two. will see what comes up.
  22. Cheers buddy. Good to know. It may not be an issue but I'll do some fiddling and see.
  23. I was considering a pair of 25mm TV plossls. Maybe I should think again? Does anyone know whether these focus in or out compared with TV plossls? This is important to me as a binoviewer user.
