  1. I, my 30ish year old nephew and 73 year old dad in law, built my 8' x 10' ror shed a couple of years ago. I wrote the process and calamities elsewhere on the net. Needless to say, I was more than excited to get everything in there and up and running once power was installed by a qualified electrician. I didn't think too much about the internal look, until recently. I bought the wood paint, dark oak, a few weeks ago but was only this last Saturday I finally got the time to set to work. Emptied the shed of everything that could not be put on the pier After about 6 hours of arm aching work. It all came together. It is supposed to be dark oak but doesn't look as dark as I expected until I go in the shed at night..OMG its dark lol. What colour is your obsy inside?
  2. The crescent moon will be in the sky just after sunset. Point it at the moon and test
  3. Very nicely processed. Looks a great image to me. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Thanks Wim, I will reprocess using this method and try again.
  5. Thanks Olly, Yes, I tried to reduce the stars a little to make the galaxy stand out more. Every time I try I think I ruin the image a little. I need to learn how to reduce stars without leaving marks on the image.
  6. Andromeda Galaxy, taken over several nights 1 to 3 July 2019 Wiki - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andromeda_Galaxy High clouds interrupted many of my 120s subs. I took 100 x 120s Lum but only managed to use 30. R was around 60, G was 25 while only 10 B. Processed in Pixinisght. I've decided I have a love/hate relationship with M31. I don't find it very a pretty galaxy but I do find it challenging to image. And do like challenges Scope - TS65EQ 460mm APO Camera - ZWO183MM Pro Mount = Mesu 200 Astrodon LRGB Gen2 E-Series Tru-Balance Filters Lodestar X2 on a ZWO AOG and Atik 3 Filterwheel Processed in Pixinsight. Thanks for looking.
  7. Congratulations. I hope you find it as interesting as I do. I look forward to seeing some of your work from remote imaging
  8. It was forecast cloud here from 10pm after a clear blue sky day so I didnt expect any imaging tonight. But come 10pm, it was still blue sky and very clear.....So I slid the roof off the shed. Managed 5 x 5mins sub in Ha and 1 x 5min sub in O3 of part (NGC 6992) of the Viel Nebula. 00.15. clouds rolled in so I closed the lid. I consider that a good session considering I was only expecting to be sat watching England vs Norway this evening. I read Friday night should be better!
  9. From what I recall, and I have slept since then, Saturn formed and help pull Jupiter back out. I think these type of things happen due to frequencies of orbit....Moons going around planets show similar things.
  10. I have seen the forecast be for clear skies for days ahead only to see the clouds roll in as the sun sets each time. I look forward to the forecast clear skies each and every time but I always expect clouds at sunset. This way, if it stays cleay, its a win. Just now checking the Clearoutside site and yes, I too have clear skies from Wednesday for the rest of the week....Funny, as last night when I checked, it was cloud until Friday!! Its the weather, it has the chance of un-expectantly changing, especially here in the UK.
  11. Is that a Prom I see at 28 mins past? 😎 Great report Stu. Had I not been setup for Hyperstar at the moment, I would be out there with my sun filter on mt C11 now!
  12. Final attempt with this until I get more data As you may be aware, I took two versions of this object. This one, C11 Hyperstar, OSC Atik 4120EX colour with High speed Ha and O3 filters. Resulting image shown above. I also took the same image using TS65EQ and ZWO ASI183MM Pro with Ha and O3 filters. Here, I have combined the two images using NBRGB Combination in Pixinsight. This should really be called Mono HaO3 and Colour HaO3 But hey, its just fun I'm undecided on the outcome to be honest. The ASI 183 camera took 15 x Ha and 12 x O3. Image can be found here Thanks for looking
  13. An hour or two? Its the shortest night of the year....You have done well my friend yeah, same here. Clouds rolled in about 15 mins ago so I wrapped it up for the night.
  14. Here's the final image. HOO, With most stars removed. Thanks for looking. Dave.
  15. I had this type of cloud to the north east until maybe 11pm. Imaging was impossible until they cleared 😱
  16. This was a quick process Olly, Not sure if I did use the OIII in the Blue and just not say here, but now you mention it, I will go back and check.
  17. Taken last night, using TS65EQ and Mono ASI 183mm pro. 15 x 300 Astrodon 3mm Ha 12 x 300 Astrodon 3mm OIII Mesu 200 Guide using ZWO OAG and Lodestar x2 with PHD2 SGPro Processed in Pixinsight . Output as HOO image. Thanks for looking
  18. Last night we had some clear skies for the two hours of darkness, even if the moon rose around midnight. I decided on the Eastern Viel Nebula, NGC 6992 as it was already high enough to image. Nothing more C11 with Hyperstar, Atik 4120EX OSC camera and Baader f/2 High Speed Narrowband 2" filters I had setup the C11 with Hyeprstar a few nights ago. The Atik 4120EX already sat there waiting. I slew to NGC 6992 and took a 30 second sub at f/2. The viel was very faint even at 4x Bin. S0, I decided to try slipping a OIII between the Hyperstar and the camera. I could see there was a better chance. I set up for 300s subs. After 12 Subs, U replaced the OIII with a Ha. I checked all was running OK and went to bed Just a quick check. I processed in Pixinsight. Although this is a one shot colour camera, I processed the Ha and OIII images separately. Split the RGB and took the R from the Ha and G from the OIII images. The recombined the two images as HOO to produce this. I also imaged with the ZWO 183mm Ha and OIII on the TS65Q at the same time but yet to process. Clouds spoilt a few subs and sunlight too 😎 12 x 300s OIII 15 x 300s Ha Camera ATIK 4120EX OSC Scope C11 with Hyperstar ( f/2) Guided using TS65Q with Lodestar X2 on ZWO OAG. Mount Mesu 200 Processed in Pixinsight Thanks for looking.
  19. Congratulations to both Ian and FLO. I bought all my Astrodon filters from IKI. Not all at once, maybe three orders over 18 months, Ha, LRGB then the OIII & SII. Each time, it was a pleasure to deal with Ian. Always pleasant and fast delivery. Great service.
  20. If I plate solve with my TS65Q (420mm) It does platesolve quite fast. However, if I platesolve with the C11 (2800mm) It can take its time. * I think, maybe the FOV is much wider with the TS65Q so generally has many more stars to use! ( guessing!!)*
  21. My experience is.... From powering on my rig. Point it at a very bright star that I can see in the sky and on CdC. Get the star close enough to center of view. Right click on same star in CdC and Sync with mount. That tells the mount where it is pointing. Platesolve is much easier if you get it working(Which I highly recommend). I point the scope just to the east of north. Take a 10 second image and plate solve. Depends on lots of things but it plate solves within 10 mins, sometimes 30 seconds but usually 4 mins...Be patient if it does not solve ..Give it 10mins to be sure. Once it's plate solved correctly, I find I can slew most places and plate solve again within a minute and be extremely accurate.
  22. I know nothing about these filters. I have heard some people talking of buying and reviewing but so far I have seen no reviews. A quick search on AB shows some image results. Triad filter L-eNhance filter
  23. The spikes are caused by over exposure of the sensitive imaging chip. The camera is scientific grade. It does not have the anti-blooming gate. So the well capacity is exceeded at 300secs and bleeds over. Full Well: ~100,000e- Non Anti Blooming Gate (NABG) With the scope/camera combination. 300 second exposure was much too long for M16. Even 60 seconds was still too long. I found 30 second exposures about right.
