  2. Thanks to lots of people here on SGL. I finally got to play with Andromeda using my new found tool Starnet, thanks SyedT and a trick I learned from Olly, again, thanks. Basically, I took the semi processed Andromeda image. Saved a copy with stars. Saved a copy with stars removed using Starnet and PI. Using layers, I removed the star filled image to reveal the starless image. And hey presto Not perfect but I never claimed to be great at processing ....I just enjoy it
  3. Thank you SyedT. It worked Fantastic
  4. Anyone know why I cannot get this to work on either of my machines. i3-6100U 2.3Ghz and i7-4700MQ 2.4Ghz ? I am using this file, unzipped and placed into /Programs/Pixinsight/bin folder Pixinsight Starnet module Thanks Dave
  5. After much thought and counting the pennies. I took the plunge and ordered the Omegon MiniTrack LX3 on a DHL next day delivery. I had heard some great things and seen some great pictures taken with the MiniTrack LX2 so I was looking forward to the LX3 with great anticipation. After ordering the unit yesterday morning and by lunchtime seeing it was already on its way....well, the excitement was unbearable. I read the message it had left the depot this morning and was en route! 2pm, it arrived. I sat down, slowly and carefully opening the brown cardboard box and pulled out a Omegon box. Somehow it did not look as I thought. A quick read pointed out the mistake. They had sent the LX2 instead. Boooooo!!! If I had wanted the LX2 I would have purchased it a very long time ago!!! I have sent two emails to Omegon. One from my personal email account and one from their website login. I do hope they can rectify this very quickly. We are all aware that the cloud God's will scupper any chance of using the thing once they realise I have it. Waiting for Omegon to reply!!
  6. I read that many years ago. That is one cam out of how many that have not had issues? Yes, I have had USB issues, but I replaced the USB cable with a quality one and so far it's been fine. I've had my lodestar maybe 4 years now. It's been in a ror shed for the past 15 months so not much tear down these days. Either way, if I needed a new guidecam for a second setup scope, personally, I would buy a second lodestar X2 without a doubt. I love its sensitivity, especially using the OAG. It can pick up stars that I believe others cams would struggle with. Just my opinion. And, it's your choice. I hope you find what you are looking for.
  7. I use the Lodestar X2. I have even imaged with it for a quick session to get my 40+ Messiers in one session. That was for a different site. Its a VERY sensitive camera. And as a guidecam, I thinks its great Here's a single quick shot of one galaxy using the Lodestar X2 120 second single sub
  8. Thanks Olly, That is amazing! I will have a go at trying this method. No, I did not dither as i was imaging with two scopes and SGP and Artemis do not talk to one another. PHD2 therefore will dither while one of the cameras are still imaging. I did try a recently talked about free program that would wait for both cameras to finish before dithering but I ran into driver issues, so gave up on that. As I do not often use both cameras images, I will go back to dithering when only planning using one camera. Thanks again. Dave.
  9. I took this image tonight. As soon as I saw it I was thinking....That's not going to plate sol.....and before I could finish my thoughts SGP using Planewaves Platesolve2 solved it Impressive lol.
  10. Thank you vlaiv for such a detailed explanation. I will definitely check my processing settings. TS Optics TS 65/420 Quadruplet scope Image was processed in Pixinsight Full image here Dave
  11. Sorry, I should have said this was taken with the ZWO 183MM Pro cooled to -30C. 15 x 300s Ha and 12 x 300s OIII. Gain 200.
  12. Long story short...I compared my image with one that managed IOTD on Astrobin. Decided the IOTD had almost perfect smooth background with its 11 hours of data. While mine has about 2 ! Would more data improve the background or is there some technique I could use? Thanks in advance. Dave.
  13. Thanks Mick, Yeah, I could not find many recent M39 images. It's there, high in the sky. So gave it a shot
  14. Nah, its typical of a session. When I used to view, I would see at least 4 meteors over the 4 hours viewing. Looking up with my eyes alone I see many more over a 4 hour period. Now I image, I still get a few subs with meteors streaking by. But hey, I get too many satellites, about every 20 subs...one satellite.
  15. Taken last 19 July 19 from my back garden. 30 x 30s Atik 4120EX OSC camera with IDAS LP filter. C11 with Hyperstar Mesu 200 mount Pixinsight Thanks for looking
  16. Ok, I read the description. Images coming soon!! A batch of enhanced Mesu 200 mounts will be available soon! We are presently contacting those who have already registered interest by email. If you would like to get on the list for further details and pricing please contact us. The ecoders have been upgraded etc. Thought it had been re-evaluated.
  17. Reading the latest on Bernards website, it looks as if its not a wedge per se as the axis can be locked in any position and has at least two motors. Sounds like an upgrade of some sort and reduced weight! https://www.modernastronomy.com/shop/mounts/mesu-optics-mounts/mesu-mount-200/ Dave
  18. I used Bonusprint. I had a Photobook made. I thought It was quite expensive, even with the discount. But I am happy with the service and images. Although I have since seen cheaper and better options. The version I chose at Bonusprint was just images. I had to write on the image any details I wanted as there was no option to write onDave the page itself. I have since found other shops offer a version that one can add notes along side etc. There are a few photo processing shops out there. Check pricing and look for discounts. They are always having discounts. Either way, I hope you find a good shop and are pleased with your photos, once printed! Dave
  19. I agree, I think the second has much better polar alignment. I see a green tinge to the image though. SCNR would remove that to give a much better image IMO.
  20. 12 year life cycle!! 😮 I think I will order some next year That will see me into retirement and beyond lol.
  21. I would love Matt Black. Unfortunately preserving the wood was one of the objectives and I could not find black wood stain/paint. Maybe next time I paint, as it is now preserved, so to speak. I will try Matt Black
  22. I reconfigure my setup so often, one minute Hyperstar, the next full f/10 2800mm then FR added, two days later its back to Hyperstar, that the cable lengths need to be longer sometimes than others. I do agree though, I do need to get a cable tidy. In the dark, when trying to image, its not advisable to start pulling cables to find the dodgy ones....Just add a new cable and sort the chaff out when its daylight and time is plenty. In this particular rats nest there were some broken/dead cables that I have since removed......Its still a rats nest though!!
