  1. From the album: Solar System Objects

    This image is a compilation of my captures of Mars at various dates during this years opposition season of Mars. All of the images were taken using a 8" SCT at 6764mm focal length/f33.3 with an Imaging Source 21au618 and Skyris 618C CCDs. Since all of the images were taken at the same focal length and the same telescope, this is a good representation and comparison of the size of the martian disc as it got closer, was at opposition and was getting further from Earth.

    In this image Olympus Mons is visible in the lower right side near the terminator, Tharsis Montes in the middle and a "Y" shaped squiggle in the center right disc is Valles Marinares. This image of Mars was taken using a 8" SCT at 6764mm focal length/f33.3 with a Imaging source 21au618 and Skyris 618C CCDs.

    The Swan Nebula in natural color, total exposure was 55 minutes of 1 and 2.5 minute subs, and a 5 minute sub all ISO1600, taken with a Astro modded canon 40D through a 80mm f6.25 refractor.

  7. One hell of an image and a monsterous task... WELL DONE.... This is the best M31 image I have ever seen.... that includes the pros...
  8. Once you go this way: http://www.televue.com/engine/TV3b_page.asp?id=21&Tab=EP_EN6-11.0 you wont go back.... This eyepiece in combination with a 2X Powermate is my favorite high power planetary observing combo in my 8" SCT and dob....

    Thanks for the comment, the lens I used for this image was a Sigma 150mm macro f2.8 EX prime lens.

    From the album: Deep Sky Astrophotography

    This was imaged using a astro modded Canon 40D through a 150mm prime lens, piggy backed on my SCT, so tracked and guided using my 80mm frac as a guide scope. Total Exposure was 2 hours, consisting of 30 x 120s, 15 x 60s and 30 x 30s subs at ISO800 With in we can see Rho Ophiuchus, Antares, M80 and M4 among the gas, dust and nebulosity.

    This was imaged using a astro modded Canon 40D through a 50mm prime lens for the wide coverage, piggy backed on my SCT, so tracked and guided using my 80mm frac as a guide scope. Total Exposure was 2 hours, consisting of 30 x 120s, 15 x 60s and 30 x 30s subs at ISO800 With in we can see part of the stars making up the Scorpius constellation, Milky way, Rho Ophiuchus, Antares, M80 and M4 among the gas, dust and nebulosity.

    Mars with Hellas Planitia and Syrtis Major visible. Looks like the Dust storm, which was persisting on Mars for the last few months is starting to die down, revealing more detail than only a couple of weeks ago.

    This is quite possibly my last Saturn for 2018. The only reason I would image Saturn again this year, is if in the next couple of weeks I had exceptional seeing. In that case I will resume the attempt to resolve the Encke division with my 8" scope, which I do have hints of in images so I'm confident that it can be done.

    The side of Mars with Olympus Mons and Tharsis peaking out (top left of the disc). This is another sign that the dust storm is settling down since we're capturing volcanic mountain peaks.

  19. Either just some tubes extending from the objectives or, if you want to get more techy, get some nichrome wire and make some dew heat strips.. poered by a 6Ah rechargable battery which will last ages and is quite small in size.
  20. Most likely it does.... out eyes are the last refraction before the optical nerve, so it's certain... beauty is in the eye of the beholder scenario...
  21. Personally I use the variable polarizer on the Nagler 31mm and Ethos 17mm with the use of the 2X powermate... that combo has given me the views you describe... BUT I'll have to try the Neodymium on lunar now...

  23. Yeah, I'm very sure its teh same one with the moon and skyglow part dropped from the name.
