  1. Thanks Rodd I will eventually buy Pixinsight, it’s inevitable! The learning curve is relentless in this hobby! It prevents boredom though?! cheers Bryan
  2. I really don’t mind, in fact I was considering allowing access to the calibrated NB images here to see what someone with pixinsight skills could do with it! nice version, I have been doing something similar. cheers Bryan
  3. Thanks David I will probably have another go at the SHO as I have lost the details a little somewhere in the process. for example the stars in the tapdoles as seen here. and here
  4. Hi Gorann Thanks for the comment. The scope is a Revelation Astro ED100 doublet refractor with a TS flat2 and a Revelation Astro Ultrafocus focuser to carry the weight of the camera which is a Atik 460 with a 9 position 1.25" atik EFW2. The filters are astrodon 5mn filters. Thanks Bryan
  5. Thanks for the comment. I just roughly cropped them both last night but not quite equally. There was a bit more sky available in both images but I thought the nebula and the "tadpoles" stood out a bit more with a tighter crop. Cheers Bryan
  6. Thanks Dave I will probably have a go at a HOO version, I was considering it but there is a lot more data in the Sii stack than the Oiii so I was reluctant to not include it! thanks for the comment Bryan
  7. Thanks to be honest I spent a lot more time processing the SHO image but probably went too far. thanks for the comment Bryan
  8. Hi all So I have been imaging the Nebula IC410 for a couple of months now when the skies have allowed (which hasn't been that often!) and I have finally finished processing the data. (for now) I have 2 versions, one is SHO and the other HSO. Although the SHO has more impact I think I prefer the HSO as it looks more natural to my eye. The nebula is in Auriga and approximately 12000 light years away, over 100 light years across and also contains two tadpole like structures that are estimated to be approximately 10 light years in length, giving it the other name of the tadpole nebula. The subs are a combination of 10 hrs Ha, 9 hrs Sii and Oiii so around 28 Hrs in total. acquired using Artemis Capture, calibrated, aligned, and integrated in APP then transferred to Photoshop for levels, curves and colour balance. thanks for looking Bryan SHO Version HSO Version
  9. You should be pleased! it’s a cracking image thanks for sharing Bryan
  10. Lovely! you’ve got to be happy with this! thanks for sharing Bryan
  11. Thanks Martin I did produce a more colourful option but preferred this understated version as it looked more natural to my eye. I have purchased new bearings for the worm gears and plan to strip it, clean it and re-grease it when I get the time. I was surprised at how much I knocked it out of polar alignment even though it’s fastened down tight on a permanent (home built) pier. cheers Bryan
  12. Stunning image Adam thanks for sharing, can I ask, how long are the individual subs? cheers Bryan
  13. I started late on this, Ngc 7380 in Cepheus also known as the wizard nebula (for its shape) so I haven’t had as long on it as I would have liked. I also had equipment issues, I was covering my scope standing on a chair when I lost my balance and ended up grappling the scope and mount in an effort to prevent a fall! I knocked my alignment out and May have put a strain on gears or bearings? whatever happened, I ended up struggling to guide as faithfully as before the slip, I’m not sure whether it was down to seeing or if I will need to strip my mount?! Anyway! I managed to get 7hrs ha but only 3.5hrs oii and 3hrs sii calibrated and integrated in APP tweaked in ps (high pass filter, selective colour) then sharpened a tad more on my phone with ps express. I’d love to get some more time on this but I will probably have to wait till next year now as it’s disappearing over my roof thanks for looking and clear skies Bryan
  14. Great start on an interesting patch of sky Alan I like your star colours. what camera and filters was this taken with? cheers Bryan
  15. This is a beautiful image, well framed and processed with incredible finesse. It really does have a 3D feel to it I love it! Thank you for sharing what’s the sky quality like at your imaging site? Bryan
  16. Here is my current work so far on IC410 'tadpole nebula' It's a combination of 31x20m ha, 14x20m oiii and 12x20m sii. I intend to collect more data as it passes over my house this winter. A special thanks to Olly Penrice, Vincent from the astro pixel processor forum and Sarah Wager (Swagastro.com) for their help with imaging tips and techniques anyway... here it is!
  17. lovely image and great framing of one of my favourite DSO's I too find HOO more pleasing on the veil Thanks for sharing Bryan
  18. Great images! I like these! I have a couple of SCT telescopes that have been mothballed as I seem to see more refractor, reflector and rc images on this forum but you have shown that an f10 SCT is more than capable in the right hands! Thanks for sharing Bryan
  19. Great image! I particularly like the star colours! It's a steep learning curve! and I haven't even got pixinsight! although I know deep down it's inevitable.... Thanks for sharing Bryan
  20. Nice result for 5 min! imagine what you’d get if your subs were longer and you had more of them? thanks for sharing Bryan
  21. thanks Tommohawk I know what you’re saying! I have played with the settings and this is my current routine. I have settled on ticking stretch, DDP, and auto Then choosing 10%BG, 5 sigma, 2.5% base sharp slider at 0.5.0 protect slider at 0.3.0 it’s working for me on this image so far?? But I’m just learning ! combine the integrations in App then save as a 16bit tiff file for further tweaking in ps. I added the Ha integration as a luminance layer at 40% to bring up the red channel, but didn’t do much else apart from play with layers. it seems like a powerful tool and I’m sure it will become more routine with time. I could stack in Dss with a reference sub to keep everything aligned with my eyes closed! thanks for the comment Bryan
  22. Great start with the new mount. How do you like it so far? I have been following your progress with interest. Thanks for sharing Bryan
  23. Great image of a new (to me) target! 43 hours is indeed a long time to spend on one subject, I think the longest I have achieved so far is 18 hours and that took 3 months with UK NW weather! Well done! and thanks for sharing Bryan
  24. Hi I have been Imaging the Witches Broomstick over the last couple of months when the clouds have allowed in the hope of having it ready for haloween. Also I have been trying to get to grips with a new (to me anyway) piece of processing software, probably like a lot of folks on this forum. And thanks to this forum and the helpful people on it I am finally getting somewhere! I don't think I am finished yet with this image as I know there is more data in there that needs teasing out, I had not done myself any favours as I am still learning the pitfalls of CCD imaging and had image ritate ticked on several sessions so it took a lot of working out how to stack several sessions with relevant darks flats and Bias correctly orientated! The lesson I have learned from this is to be more organised or at least more vigilant when collecting the data! Anyway, enough rambling on...... Its the result of about 18.5 so far.. I've included the Tif file if you want to see it in more detail. So far I'm impressed with APP, thanks for looking Bryan first APP HA-OIII combination no layers ha-lum 40%.tif
