Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL. You will get a good response if you put your questions in the getting started in astrophotography section. I only do visual.

  9. Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL. I keep my SW 102 Frac in a tool box purchased from B and Q. Using the packaging that originally came with the scope it makes a very snug fit. Ideal for storage or transporting the scope. Only cost around £20
  10. Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL. Lovely photos.
  11. If you have read any of Garfinkle’s other books this is very much his style of writing. I have his book on star hopping and I like the maps etc but often the dialogue goes of into minutiae about how the ancient Sumerian’s depicted the constellation etc. Interesting but when it is overdone it distracts from the purpose. The main difficulty in finding references is the strange page numbering system used. I bought it because every review I read of the books was fulsome in their praise.
  12. It’s certainly not bedtime reading John. I think it is a good reference source. I tend to read a little bit of it at a time, but I must say I feel a bit disappointed with it.

Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL. We need to know a little more before we can make any suggestions. What ages are your daughters? where are you going to observe from? If it is your garden, then how dark are your skies ?

  16. Hi. I hope the weather is kind to you and let’s you have plenty of opportunities to observe. There is a new sunspot on the solar disk just now. Well worth a look.
  17. Hi Roger. Yes I managed a short session yesterday. As you say it does exactly what it claims. There was even a new Sunspot to follow yesterday lol. I don’t think I will be using batteries. I prefer using the power adapter, but thanks for the advice.
  18. Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL.
  19. I mounted my Lunt 50 on it today. It was more to keep the orientation of the scope with the pressure tuner at right angles and the focuser wheels in the normal position. I did not try it with the double stack as I think this might prove too much for it.
  20. Second delivery of the day. A L bracket for use with new mount.
  21. One Solar Quest Mount . Thanks to Ant for the quick sale. Note how the sun was shining before unboxing and how it was gone as soon as the mount was out the box.
  22. An early morning delivery. I wonder what the well wrapped box contains
