  1. Pretty pleased is an understatement if I may say so Chris, that is absolutely superb.
  2. Well my earlier optimism was unfounded but I had 45 minutes or so of really good Lunar observing. I am only 8 miles away Pete and I cannot see even a glimmer of Lunar light now, so a glass of wine and the fireside seems a good idea .....
  3. We stuck with tradition, 12 days before, 12 days after etc, but without my children and Grandchildren it was all rather pointless. Lots of people around here still have fairy lights and there is even a Christmas tree still going strong . If it makes people feel better then that's fine but I was glad when it was over, a new year and a lots of hope !
  4. Observing until 3 am this morning has left me a bit weary but the sky is even better tonight, cold, crisp and clear. I am using the 12" Dob and the Moon is superb and steady at 166X. One of the targets will be Tegmine, which I just failed to split last night with the 4" Vixen ED. Good hunting for anyone else out tonight.....
  5. Excellent report and lovely sketches covering a very good session. I was out with my 4" Vixen refractor and was unable to see either E or F in the Trap. The Moon , as you said took high powers last night and binoviewing was superb...
  6. I am finding the same John with my Vixen ED103 and Nagler 3-6 zoom, 264x and seeing the notched resolution at best.
  7. Traded all of last years FLO vouchers for a long coveted eyepiece. It will be mostly used in my 12" Dob, but will grace each of my scopes !
  8. Thanks for the heads up John. So used to being a hermit, and with this incessant rain, I had not looked out, but it is clear though with poor transparency . I will put the 4" Vixen out and see.
  9. Superb image Avani !.....

    Hi All

    Welcome to SGL Paul....
  12. Wow, that is impressive Rob......
  13. A lovely Carton collection growing there Dave ! Vintage eyepieces form the mainstay of my viewing pleasure as you can see. The four singletons do get used but await partners to develop their true potential.... The 35mm Baaders are only 2 years old, but the prescription is definiteley vintage, being Pseudo Masuyma . And I almost forgot the big daddy of them all, the Meade 56mm 'smoothie', 2" eyepiece with the huge 45mm eye lens. A Merry Christmas to all..
  14. Hi Pete, Being just down the road from you, I also got a good view on Sunday evening. I had to take my Vixen ED103 Just outside our village do so.
  15. A complete washout for me on the 21st, but I did catch them very nicely the previous evening.
  16. A very welcome Christmas present Dave.......🤞
  17. That is a lovely image Geof. I managed a quick 10 minutes when the clouds parted this evening. The seeing was not great and I could only use 58x , but it was good to see what you have shown. The moons Gannymede and Europa were having a little conjunction of their own.....
  18. Congratulations John, and thanks for all your knowledge, generously shared with us on these forums. Long may it continue !
  19. Only just seen this, but my copy is on its way. Quite amazing....
