  2. Up @ 6 to image the Sun, only to find laptop has failed again! 2nd time in about 3 weeks. That's it time for Linux Mint.

      Thanks Charl. Looks like the same issue but I suspect the HD is on the way out as the root cause. Not sure what to do now!

      get another hd thay only take a few minutes to fit + a hour or so to put your programes on and other stuff, i keep all my astro stuff on a 2tb portable harddrive and thats backed up on another hd just to be on the safe side. hope you get it sorted soon .charl.

  4. New dual speed crayford focuser for my Evostar 120 just arrived. Should make focusing a little easier.

      Went for the Skywatcher version as it was  a guaranteed fit. Quite impressed. Will post some pics later.

      yer thay are good,ive one on my ed80 very smooth and a nice feel to the movement, and very easy to adjust if it starts to slip.look forward to the pics.charl.

      Yup - got home, set up scope, went in to make tea, clouded over, went in to eat tea, looked as of cloud breaking up, went backin for a cuppa, then came out and it had actualy rained a bit (scope ok). Totally clear at midnight when I looked at bedtime! Grr!

      I aborted plans to image me some moon with the SCT! Pesky forecasts! There were dribs and drabs but I want a nice long clear patch and the Moon nice and high! Seeing was too boiling to sneak in close when it was lower down. At least we had a quick look at Jupiter, the Moon and M42!

      Feel a bit sorry for the Cambrigeshire County Show, yesterday was fairly bright and dry. Today it is dull, grey and raining in intermittant downpours. The show is today.

      Yeah I think that was kind of 2015 David, iffy weather :D I held off any lunar imaging for a while, looking forward to getting back to that. I am thinking maybe do solar mostly in summer,. lunar imaging in spring and autumn and observing planets if they are about, and DSO observing in winter.

      Release on the 17th December and we (family) now have tickets for 6pm that day. May have to get a refresh on the originals before then myself. Although I have seen them so many times I can pretty much recite them word-for-word!

      Weekends have been disappointing this year! Am lucky that solar brekkie is now on the menu, it was doing my head in seeing so many poor weekend forecasts and rushing focus when any clear bits turned up! Good luck for some fine weekend weather soon!
